I can finally pull this thing off whenever I want to in a match ( ironically, can't do the dlc or spod, though) and the AI has just been ripping me apart because I am still trying to figure out how to use it. Anybody have any insight on this?

This is why you should learn the concept of frames and so on before jumping in, doing aki's hard moves, and thinking of yourself as the technizell master (nobody's impressed) and then trying to spam them against the ai (learning to mod the dblplm is the most important thing probably with aki but isn't flashy). But here you go man:

Check his movelist; it's 17 frames (1 frame faster then yoho and kneeclass) so use it as you would a launcher of that sort. P>Knee, reverse nitaku, when someone is rising, from a smallbackdash to punish whiffed attack and so on. For garanteed applications look here if it's knee after you can punish with it...
Watch alot of clips of media and GL and welcome to the board.

I'm assuming that the dblplm is [2_][4][6][P]. Before registering and making this post I read a lot about Akira, but that move troubles me because I can only do it after a [2][P], [4][3][P], or anything that keeps Akira down and lets me buffer that downward motion. I have read about how guys here do things like [3][3]>[1][1]>[4][6][P]. There's no way I can pull that off in a match, but that's why there's free training.

    What is a reverse nitaku?

Thank you, I appreciate the help.

THAKID, as far as modifying a move is concerened, the dblplm is the perfect move to practice.

What the [2_] means in the dblplm command is that essentially you have to be crouching for that input to work. The move is considered to be executed from a crouch, instead of while standing or rising.

A simple way to do dblplm without doing a low attack first is to do either [3][3][4][6][P] or [1][1][4][6][P]. You don't have to do a crouchdash in BOTH directions, just one. This works because a crouchdash forces you into a crouch much faster than simply pressing [2]. I do not have the frame information on this, but it is sufficient to say that as soon as you finish entering the crouchdash, you are in the crouching state. Then you can do the [4][6][P] to finish the attack.

Modifying the attack is trickier way to pull off the same effect. Instead of doing [1][1], you would do [1][4][1][4][6][P], which can be input faster after you practice it. This command sequence should be the fastest way to do a dblplm from standing still. Good luck and have fun.

It's exactly one (1) frame faster. It takes 7 frames to crouch from standing position, 6 by doing a CD.

Not really. You can do modified moves from the first frame of CD, but the character itself is considered standing for the first 6 frames. Frames 7 and beyond are crouching.

For more info on this see "The basic and frame stuff when throw escaping" .

Ahh, thanks ZSS. At least I had the effects right, even if my reasons were pure BS /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Now I know the proper explanation I'll try not to let it happen again.
