hi everyone, i'm kinda new here and i just wanted to share my experience about how i managed to get akira's knee on ps2 pad.

things started when i once accidentally executed akira's knee on my ps2 pad in a kumite match... after that, i immediately moved over to free training to simulate how i was able to pull the knee shyt off. after a lot of practice, i can now consistently execute that damn akira's knee in the game.

my pad is configured in this manner:
    triangle button = kick
    circle button = kick+guard

to execute, use entire thumb on both buttons but make sure that the circle button gets only a mild tap (i.e. just a short touch and not pressing the circle button with the center to rear part of the thumb) while the triangle button gets a complete press/hold from the tip part of the thumb. this method may take a while to get used to but by slanting the thumb "/" (so that the circle button gets only a mild and short touch) when hitting both buttons will help a lot.

i hope this info helps those people who don't have any methods on how to but wanted to do or incorporate that damn knee consistenly in their akira game.

I have been playing with Akira for a while now and i am not able to pull this knee off on a regular basis, can anyone please explain to me what is so important about this move, I have done it a few times accidently but for the effort you have to put in imo its not worth it,

does any of the vf veterans know if virtua fighter 4 operates on pressure sensitive buttons like metal gear2 or gt3????????

If so this may explain why i cant execute akiras knee

Nope, not pressure sensitive buttons. However the springier the the buttons are, the better your chances are. When you press K+G, the G button cannot be touching the contact beneath it for more than 1/60th of a second before rising back to its usual position. So a springy button is more likely to be shoved up quickly.

As for the move's importance.. .it's not important at all. Akira has a dozen useful moves that you can use for good damage or to start float combos. If this move were easier to do, it might be more useful, but it's not at all essential for akira to be able to do.
There are a bunch of posts (like 30) for how to do akira's knee. Watch what happens if you do a google search for "how do I do akira's knee" /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
... check out one of the posts on this site and practice.

yeah ive seen those posts many times. Its good to know its not really an essential move (i thought i was missing out on something big)

hitting the button for 1/60 of a second is good info with this in mind i found the knee much easier to execute i was able to do it 4 times last night(you just have to give the button a very slight nudge)

thanks for the info creed it helped a lot /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

akira's knee is not that important since there are a lot of other moves available for him to beat up an opponent. plus considering to amount of effort a person must devote on practice just to consistently execute this move is probably not worth the effort. as a matter of fact, it took me until vf4 before i was finally able to incorporate this move on my akira game as i've been playing vf since vf2 on saturn (the layout of the 4 buttons of PS2 pad did it for me, no doubt). --i agree with you guys and akira without his knee move doesn't have any effect on how you play him. once you can consistently pull it off, you'll just be consisdering this move as one of the rest anyways... threfore, it's not a loss if you can't execute it. it's nice to have the move, though, since you'll be having an alternative floater move to shoulder ram and to yoho with faster recovery time (i believe knee has around 9 frames compared to around 13 frames each for shoulder ram and for yoho).

redhead, it took me a while to get back in here so i'm glad that CreeD was available to give you answers and more information... yep, you're not missing anything really big.

oh yeah CreeD, lots o thanks.
