Anger Management thread.

Discussion in 'Console' started by endtransmission, Jun 12, 2012.

  1. Almost threw my arcade stick at the wall so I thought I'd vent instead....Things that are making my anus viciously salty.

    1. People turning-down fights to improve their ranking by fighting a bunch of noobs.

    2. People that are spamming punch-chains with Jacky, Brad, Lau, Pai, Lion and Lei Fei. Sure, you can beat them but it's not fun to play them.

    3. Lack of Shun good, Goh and Wolf players online.

    4. People playing respectfully and then resorting to utter cheese when they're a couple of rounds down.

    5. Pouring salt into my anus.

This thread is not pointless, it is a catharsis.

  2. Also Lei-Fei's lunging-punch thing is absurd.

    I feel much better.....

If you play ranked, you have no reason to expect people to play respectfully.
When you're in ranked, you play to win.
If you like respectful play, try hanging in player match instead.

that is not always the case, I for one do that too because the little connection quality icon thing is not showing anything which means I can't connect to that person (I have a strict NAT so that happens a lot)

This a hundred times. I play to improve in players, in ranked I go balls to the walls. [IMG]

You get more rank against higher ranked opponents now. Playing other dans moves me on too slowly so sometimes I don't bother. Far more efficient to find a hunter to beat up.

Only thing that really got on my balls wahs when i lost to someone just spamming akiras 66P and 666p elbows. Lost in 3 rounds and still dont quite know how to beat that stuff (my sidestepping got screwed by lag).

i just hit quick match in ranked. I imagine I would rank up much more quickly if I picked on ranks.

I don't get too mad when playing, sometimes I get angry with myself for doing stupid things but that's about it.

Surely if you're not a veteran player, sooner or later you are going to lose against something that might be considered cheap, you are going to feel like the other player didn't put any thought in his game and still got the undeserved win. After I go online, expecting this as a possibility, I don't get as mad. Think about what you got out of the match, probably a heads up as to what you can practice to improve your game. He probably didn't learn a damn thing, but instead reinforced a bad habit.

  10. I try my best to win in ranked-matches too but that doesn't mean you have to be cheap. Maybe I've set my standards too high by just playing with friends in the past that are all respectful players... I for one don't resort to being cheap to win a ranked match. I think that's sad that people sacrifice trying to play the game properly to get a cheap win. Just my personal view.

I don't get angry when I make a mistake, I just get disappointed in myself and try and do better next-time. I can absolutely accept that part of losing. Also ,I've had about 270 matches and have only really gotten angry 4 or 5 times. : ) I just wanted to vent.

The problem with player matches is it's much harder to find an opponent, seems like ranked-matches are far more popular....

Also the connection point is true, I know it's not ALWAYS people turning-down fights due to rank but you'd be foolish to think that's not happening at-all. I used to know this guy that played VF5 and had a 100% win record but refused to play me or my mates or let anyone watch him play the computer. It was farcical but the point is, these people exist/are insane...

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving the online mode. Just a few minor gripes!

Rank = no moral. Second don't jump into rank without understanding the game first. its not going anywhere. This why i don't fuck with rank like that. People are playing to win. No more visible win lose records.. even if you ose you collect points so people won't be turned away. don't waste a hundred dollar stick on a 15 game that you don't fully understand.

I only turn fights down if they have a bad icon for disconnecting (hey, I wanna play and don't search for pussies that can't stand a fight!) or if the connection doesn't have a bar. it's a pain to play with such a huge lag…

It disappoints me when people disconnect after the 1st or 2nd round when they lost. I've had enough fights were I lost 2 rounds and turned the tide. Dunno why they give up so fast…
But what really pisses me off is when a Jacky only does the somersault and blocking… I main Jacky, so I know that the move is hard-hitting but come on, only 1 move!? Before someone misinterprets me, I try to use it only in combos bc I think it's a bit unfair to use it.
…or I use it when someone really pisses me off…

  13. Like I said, I can outsmart and beat pretty-much all of those guys. My point was that it's not fun to beat them. I prefer to play someone that's also playing the game with skill and experience in the game. I've been playing VF for at least 15 years so I already have said experience (not that it's ever enough).

I'm on X-Box live and I don't know about PSN but there's no-one playing Player Matches on X-Live.

  14. I've had no disconnects so far apart from a Pai that was beating the shit out of me, so I assume it was legit. : p

  15. Sorry for the triple-post but one other thing that's annoying is you can't see your win %, I know you can figure it out roughly... but why not just show it? I find myself doing maths before every game to figure out mine and other peoples percentages.

I saw my wins vs loses once in-game but I can't remember where to find it, can someone help me out please? Ty.

Like already someone said about turning down fights when connection status doesn't look good, it's just I don't want to play with horrible lags because both sides won't have fun from game.

About spamming PPP all day long, spam 2P. If opponents change tactic then you'll see he/she is thinking if not then GG [IMG]

And about Jacky, I avoid to stick P strings but it's hard to not use it when its one of his best strings after all [IMG] And don't expect that won't be using [6][P] a lot, its just impossible :p

In somersault kick case I'm kinda guilty x) Its just funny to see that after 2 or 3 kicks your opponent eat every throw [IMG] But I'm not even 1st Dan so that maybe be cause ^^"

Very much this. It even happens in player matches though which just confuses me. I don't think it's intentional I think people just sorta panic and just do what they think will win rather than playing with style.

People play this game for different reasons though, some play simply to just beat other people at it, and although that's the whole point of pretty much every game, not everyone derives enjoyment from beating anyone they can. People that go for the flashy stuff, and connect with it make me happy. Chibita for example is pretty much accepted as one of if not THE best player of the game, and sure he could just stick to the basic combos and win no worries, but he goes for the fancy stuff that people love to see and can't help but go "OOOOOOH SHIIIII...." or something along those lines.

The cheese thing is definatly the only thing I hate about this game, I've played a few people that have beaten me with total skill, style and perfected me twice or even 3 times in a row. When that happens and they look good doing it, I want them to have my babies. When someone plays cheap and wins I just feel like facing them offline where their stupid cheese won't work and then smiling at them and saying "Would you prefer if there was some lag here so your bullshit online tactics would work?"

Welcome to the world of the internet, animosity and memes reign supreme.

All I do in FS now is player rooms on PSN and I love it! Ive met a lot of really great people and players who are trying to improve their skills instead of their rank. The mentality between xbl and psn is apparent. Ive been much happier with the game once I stopped playing ranked.

That's just the way it is homie... Also, some people aren't always turning down fights for that reason. The latency may very well not be on par when fighting you, so they turn it down, because it wouldn't be "fair" per sé, seeing as you would have the lag advantage.

That's what happens if you play ranked matches most times. Do room matches with cats on this site, or with others that you know who are pretty solid at the game. Also, if you're gonna do ranked matches, don't do quick match, just search and fight those you've come across before that are good. Not much else to it. You can also help those spammers to not spam and help them strengthen their game, if they're even willing to accept the advice.

Real talk, it's good that you're just venting rather than tearing shit up... You gotta understand, not everybody online is gonna be some Chibita Jr. Some have a long time before they can truly grow into a decent fighter. Others are straight up casual, and don't care about frames and combos, and just wanna have fun mashing. Others want to win, and increase their e-penis, so they use the most vile lag tactics, and mash when necessary, and do whatever to win. It's a sad state of affairs, but thats just how it is.

You're, basically complaining, from what I can tell, about abare play, aka attacking from a disadvantage. You need to HURT them for playing predictably and MAKE them stop.

    How?

Go for a big counter hit combo. I don't know who you use, but essentially you want to crumple or launch them for a big combo. For example, if someone is playing overly abare against my Goh, I'm going for a CH with his knee any time I think they're going to try mash P or 2P from a disadvantage.

Abare is frustrating because it fucks up your throw game; that can definitely be annoying but it's always gonna be on you to MAKE them stop, and force them to switch tactics.
