Don't know how much of a response this will get here, but I figured it's worth a try, if anyone else has Animal Crossing and wants to do some trading (or giving, post it here).

So far I've just started so all I've really got are cherries and a few other knickknacks. Also there's coconuts growing on my island but I'm not sure if that's random too.

    HA, David!

I was also curious about this game. I've heard it's fun, and I was reading on the box that if you link the GC and the GBA, then you can read trading cards, possibly unlocking old NES games?

Sounds cool, and if I get it, I'll let you know.

I doubt I'll have time to play it, though. What's up with the cards? Where do you buy them?

    Hey Bryan,

    Considering getting a GC? /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Right now, how it works is, when you start off the game, you usually get a letter in the mail from Nintendo with two games, which you can plop on the floor of your house and play at anytime. The games right now tend to be Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Clu Clu Land, Balloon Fight, Excitebike, Golf, Tennis, and Pinball (the two you get are random). So you can play the two you get. With the GC to GBA link cable you can send the ones you have to the GBA and play them there. Since the games are stored in the GBA RAM, they're lost when you turn the power off. In order to unlock more in the game, you either have to trade for them via password with other people, or you can receive them as gifts or whatever in the game, which is completely random.

The e-reader right now hooks up to your GBA and you can buy cards (DK Jr, Balloon Fight, Excitebike, Tennis, Pinball) that allow you to play them on GBA without linking up to the Gamecube. What you read about are the special Animal Forest cards which don't come out until next month, supposedly, you buy the cards, swipe them with the e-reader connected to the Gamecube, and unlock stuff including NES games. I saw the NES game cards at Target today, but I suppose you can get them at most stores that sell gaming stuff.

What other NES games there are haven't been confirmed by Nintendo but there should be a lot more. The Japanese version even had Super Mario Bros and Zelda but I heard they could only be gotten through special contests.

The game is pretty addicting. I spent this morning catching bugs and selling them so I could pay off the mortgage to my house. Sounds retarded I know, but it's so damn fun.

    Hope that helps.

does the version of DOnkey Kong in the game have the pie factory?

I still can't believe they left that out of the NES version.

how much do those card readers cost?

I have a GC and a GBA, and I've heard that game is really addictive. There's Kappa's in that game right (japanese mythological river imp that kind of looks like a turtle/monkey with a dish on it's head)?

Heh, I was wondering myself, sorry, the DK in Animal Forest is the NES version, meaning only 3 stages. I think DK Jr. on the GBA is all 4 levels from the arcade version though.

The e-reader is $39.99 and the cards are $4.99 each...just came out this week.

Yeah the kappa is in the game...and he's called Kapp'n and he takes you to the GBA island. There's also the tanuki who they call Tom Nook.

Yeah it's pretty addictive...almost PSO-like if you ask me. You don't spend as much time on it but you constantly want to go in and see what's going on in town and try and collect new and better stuff or just make some money.

Plus there's a lot of little things you can do. These are from another forum:

"I dig sending letters filled with innuendo. There is a cat named Mitzi in my village who seems to have a crush on me. So I sent her a totem pole as a present with a letter that said: "I hope you enjoy my pole." Now I have to figure out what to send to Chico, the gay mouse who also has a crush on me."

"dig a bunch of holes around the villager you hate, and hit him on the head with the net. Repeatedly. Then, fill in one of the holes with a pitfall. Watch him fall in. Laugh."

Umm, this game sounds good. Tom Nook.

If I get it, can I visit your town/characters via memory card?

You can only visit other people's towns if you have the physical memory card e.g. I have to stick mine into slot 2 of your Gamecube. My brother came into mine the other day and looted all my cherries.

But you can still trade practically every item in the game through password. The good thing is, even if you trade something away, it will be in the catalog at Tom Nook's store so once you raise the cash you can buy it back again.

I think you'll enjoy the game...especially since it looks like you haven't followed it too much and thus haven't had some of the stuff spoiled for you.
