Another newbie^^ (Problem with game mechanics)

Hi there!

I just bought VF5, I've been a VF fan since VF1 in the arcades, but have never had the time to delve deep into its mechanics, I own the two VF4 for ps2 but have barely touched them because of lack of time. Now my studies are over and I'm dying to get into VF5!

Thing is, I started practicing with Eileen today and I don't understand what her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif during guard or hit means!
I'm doing dojo all I can but these moves never land. Now, I guess it is since the opponent needs to guard or hit me?

That means you can cancel the PP string with 236P if YOU hit them or make them block it. You CAN'T cancel it if you DON'T connect at all.

For example, with El Blaze there are certain moves where you can go into his Rocket Discharge any time, sometimes you have to get them to at least block the move and then you can do the Rocket Discharge and some moves have to actually hit for you to go into it...

In the case you're asking about, you have to hit them or, at least, make them block the PP before you can cancel into the "Monkey-Hoe" flip.
