1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

    Hey guys,

I'm just looking to reconnect again with some of the old-school VF players, if they're still around. I'm Mason, or Massachusetts Jeffrey, from the old usenet and VF2 tournament days. Just picked up VF5 and, as usual, it brings back all those old memories. Any of my Toronto or NYC buddies still around? Anyone ever hear from Yupa in the last 10 years?

    Hey Mason,

There are still a few of us kicking around. Yupa is on the site posting in the Wiki and Dojo areas (sarah, don't you know) so you'll catch him here.

    How have things been?

Hey there.. I played vf2 and 3 from 94-97 with some of the original LA crew, Aoki, Kris Amico, Eric, Kim and Amir. After 97 I stopped playing but started again this january. I remember Kris telling me about you back in the day and think I remember you on vfhome back then as well.

    Hey Mason!

Adam here - it has been a long time. I just got back into VF5 and am really enjoying it. Online is great fun.

I look forward to playing with ya, and hopefully meeting in person in the near future!

Please add me to your VF buddy list. My ringname/gamertag is adamYUKI (what else!?).

Good to hear from you. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm not American but I'm a big fan of VF2. I still think that some of the animations (for example Akira's Surprise Exchange) were so good that they never managed to match them again.
Considering it came out in 1994, that game was nothing short than an absolute masterpiece...

As Flash mentioned, Yupa and I travelled to VA for a tourney just recently and we still play these days.

I'm an old-school US VF2 player, but wasn't a part of the community back then because I didn't know about it. Basically, it was me, Gallows, sometimes his sister, and two other guys we knew back then getting together for rotation play on the Saturn.

That's why I'm loving it now. I really should've been a part of the community all along, getting involved here has been like a homecoming. Just happens to be a home I didn't realize I had. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Mason,

this is Bryan, I remember you came to NYC a long time ago to play VF2 w/ me and some of my friends (mostly Japanese guys). You brought along a guy w/ a ponytail who was playing Lau. I remember your strong Jeffry!

Wow, there really are quite a few of us still around!

Godeater, things have been going well. I'm happily married to a woman who thinks video games are stupid, but she did let me buy a 50 inch plasma to play VF on, so I can't complain much. I've just started playing VF5, picked up an xbox 360 and a couple controllers, trying to get my mojo back. Other than that, we bought a house last year and have been systematically ripping down every room and rebuilding it. Good house, just needs a bunch of work.

Of course I remember you, Andrew. I didn't make *that* many road trips that I'd forget one. In fact, I live about an hour away from Randolph, in Haverhill. I think I pass your house a few times a year on the way to visit a friend of mine.

Adam, we should definitely get together at some point again, hopefully after I've practiced a bit so I won't embarrass myself *too* much. My wife and I are going to be visiting White Plains after Christmas (not sure the exact date yet), so maybe I can ditch her and her friend for awhile and come play.

And Bryan, wow, that was a long time ago. I remember that tight arcade we went to, and by tight I mean so crowded you could hardly move. That was a lot of fun, except one of my buddies got his wallet stolen. But really, who carries their wallet in an outer pocket of a trench coat in NYC?

I haven't signed up for xbox live yet, but I plan on doing so relatively soon. Thanks for all the replies, guys, and for those that posted and I haven't met irl before, I hope to see you in game once I'm online.

Now I must hunt down Yupa. He was the first VF player I'd met outside my area, and it's been way too long since I've seen him pound on a controller. =)

    -MassJeff
