1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Any Vannessa experts? I need a little help.

    I'm having trouble countering Pai's [6][G]+[K], and EDIT:[6][6][G]+[K] and Akira's obnoxious SPoD.

Against Pai I'm using the Intrude or Glide MC's, but I can't seem to consistently get the hit.

I have no idea how to counter that SPoD.

I generally prefer DS over MT.

    Any suggestions?

Incidentally, having looked over the EVO move list for Vannessa, is she slightly more balanced in EVO. The new takedown options look to be useful. In other words is her OS more effective in EVO?

I'm still playing vf 4 so I'm not too hot on evo stuff but I believe SPoD is a fairly slow start up move that's semi-circular in origin which basically means you can evade and counter but only one way.Got to training and set a dummy Akira to to the first move of SPoD [P]+[K]+[G] repeatedly ( or fully if you're feeling ambitious ) and just try to counter it.Sorry I can't be of any more help. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know you can do the f+P+K lightning elbow to counter, then follow with whatever lightning elbow combo is best.

Her [4][3][P]+[K] low punch inashi in DS is really good. It's the best in the game IMO because of the timing. After it deflects, follow up with [3][P]+[K],[6][P],[K],[K]. You can also use this combo after a high/mid punch auto-parry. Excellent way to humiliate Jackys. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I thought the [4][3][P]+[K] was only a LP sabaki. I know that the DS [1][P] and MT [2][P] will sabaki nearly any low attacks. Both are great for breaking the Pai/Lau [P][P][P][2][K] canned combos. Then again so is Van's HP Reversal.

Anyone know if any of her sabaki's will break the SPoD?

i'm pretty sure DRE meant that you can do the [3]+[P]+[K], [6]+[P],[K],[K] after you score the p+g throw from vanessa's open stance auto punch parry (the one where she hits you in the back and gives major frame advantage allowing for more free hits from the back).

if you're playing VF4:verC (ps2 version), your best followup IMO is [6],[6]+[K]+[G] (then [6]+[P]+[G]. if you're going for reliability, you might as well stick with [6],[6]+[K].

as for your questions regarding sabaking Spods, dude thats basic info that you or anyone can get from this site just by looking at the movelists. first look at what all vanessa can sabaki with her moves, what she can reverse and what she can parry and then simply see whether the move you want to parry, reverse, sabaki or whatever is in that move class. the first hit of spod is a middle punch so yes, not only can you sabaki it, you can also mid reverse AND auto punch parry it. plus its elbow+ counterable, so even if you block it in MT, you get a free [6]+[P]+[K] plus juggle and oki.
