1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Any Winning Eleven players here?

Just curious if there are any enthusiastic Winning Eleven players hanging out at VFDC.

Also ported as Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe (as far as I know), the series has finally hit the US with the release of WE6 (though we didn't get WE6: Final Evolution I think). I'm definitely happy it's being released here with a good amount of people snatching it up in my local area. Or so the gameshops seem to lead me to believe.

Hopefully, the series will have a strong reputation in the US and overtake *cough* FIFA. I can only hope on that. I think the game is pretty much well known and received anywhere outside of the US (wouldn't be the only thing).

On that note, are there any established sites or forums for Winning Eleven in english?

    Sites I've found so far:
Konami's Official US Winning Eleven Forum
    ISS Extreme
    ProEvolution.tk
The WE Virtual Football Club of North America
    KCET's Finest

I have been playing WE casually since the PSX's time. I played the most of WE3 Final Version a few years ago I believe, but I also played a good deal of matches of the PS2 versions. Heck my PS2 library only has 3 Winning Eleven games (Import) and 2 VF4 games (Import). The funny thing is that my PS2 is US... I should have bought a Japanese PS2...

I didn't buy WE6FE, but a couple of friends did and I got to play a while back when it was newly released in Japan. But I didn't have the chance to play since the semester started...

WE is pretty big all over the world. Some people back home are not even video gamers yet still play competitivly, and the gaming culture there is not like it is here or in Japan so it shows how good it is to draw big crouds.

The game is REALLY deep and fun, and you don't get tired of it easily once you learn how to play.

WE6: Final Evolution is the best soccer game in existence. Yes, I'm a fellow WE player. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I read a great review about it and I really wanted to pick it up but sadly my local EB was out. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Its sounds so cool because its like a soccer rpg sim. I want to play it bad.

I agree, nothing beats WE, and WE6FE is excellent. It's amazing how they can always find something to tweak and update and then release many versions consecutively. Some updates were released, what, 4-5 months within each other /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif? It always stays fresh though /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif...

I wouldn't call it an RPG sim though. It's just very real and entertaining. Action almost never gets repetitive too...

With each passing match I play, I'm getting more and more hooked on this game.

Prior to WE6: International (US Version), I had only played WE4 a good amount and one time played WE5 a year ago when I went to Vancouver, B.C. to play some VF4 with Moby and company (Howard was the WE5 player).

BTW, there are various interpretations as to what WE6 International is... Many people say it's Pro Evolution Soccer 2 updated with roster updates, graphics, and videos. Some say it's a revamped WE6: J-League with world roster and updates (which is what others say Pro Evolution Soccer 2 is). Only thing I heard standing out was that for sure, the AI is better than Pro Evolution Soccer 2.

For the most part, it sits between WE6 and Final Evolution.

I'm just so grateful it's out in the American market, though it would be awesome if we could have received Final Evolution.

As for how the game is being received... Great reviews across the board and it's being sold out at a lot of gameshops, but mainly because they've been maintaining small quantities of the game. I'm curious how the first two weeks of sales would have been if more of them had been shipped.

My thoughts on WE6:International so far? It's bloody awesome. If you have any interest or even potential interest in soccer, get it!

Yeah, it's a great game I went and bought it last week, and alot of stores were out. But, just like you said, I think they didn't order a big quantity. BIG MISTAKE !!!

I've been following the news and details on this puppy for a while too. I'm a sadistic soccer game fan. Sadly pretty much everything out there has been a nightmare to play. I'm just picky I guess.
One question to all those who HAVE played it a bit:
How is the ball trick-handling? I'm so sick of games where you feel obliged to pass when the defense comes close to challenge you. Is there a decent variety of up-close ball handling to just skillfully work your way past a defender?

I think WE has always outsold FIFA internationally (particularly in Asia), but we are just now having the opportunity to join the rest of the world in soccer greatness. I hope EA chokes on it.
Now if only they could make a volleyball game as deep and devoted as WE seems to be. /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

When a defender gets to you, you can do some fancy cuts and ball handling to get past him, but it requires really good timing and ability to read the defender. You don't have really tricky and impossible moves like FIFA, but you can burn past the defender if you read him right and pull off some fancy ball handling and control. Just to let you know, there are 4 different speeds that you can carry the ball. That should give you an idea how strategic this game is.

I have played all the ISS games since the SNES.
ISS and ISS Deluxe if anyone remember those.
And started playing the WE games since WE5.
Got my copy of WE6 Final Evolution a couple of weeks ago, but havent played it so much, since there really is no competetion here. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah, I started playing the ISS games back at the Super Nes days, and followed up with the Pro Evolution Soccer\Winning Eleven series on the playstation\Playstation 2.

It is the absolute best footie game out there, and Winning Eleven 6 FE is just as remarkable as the games before.

Thanks a bunch for the PES Fan link /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif Lots of good, scattered information in the forums for me to dig through--there goes my spring break... hehe

Actually, I was hoping some people would post more links on WE/ISS/PES if they had something to share. So again, thanks /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gosh, there's just so much hidden in this game. I knew it before, but it's just so daunting when trying to do everything and then trying to do everything during matches....

That's one of the best selling points of Pro evo ..the fact you can save your goal replays. The amount of stupid mistakes resulting in goals or free kicks are all filling up my memory card. But what's with the lack of manual replays like in fifa. Some of the best moments in games don't get granted replays.

Yeah I devoted a whole memory card to this game between the formations and the replays. Its like a sporty Virtua fighter. I'd love to nail one of those sweet long goals just once.

Yeah I know what you mean.I've hit the bar several times from shots from the half way line or forced the keeper into a save but nevered scored. The building I live at during term time is full of gamers and the only two games we play religiously are vf4 and pro evo2.The good thing is we're all about the same level so we all have the ablity to beat one another or lose 9-2 it just depends how hard we practice. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif
