Anyone still play vanilla on XBL?

Hi all. As I'm a VF fan through and through, I've been mixing it up between playing vanilla and FS. I've always wanted to master the true DLC with Akira but never could. I always struggled on the 2P side to do it consistently but was just wondering if anyone here still plays vanilla, just for nostalgia.

 

Heh, noticed you playing it late last night, did a double-take. I was like, "there's a quest mode!? ...oh, VF5"

 

I was asking the same thing a while back, but I've been playing FS exclusively only since everyone else seems to be there. I'd be up for some Vanilla, though, if we get enough people.

Maybe instead of Talk Like A Pirate day, we can have a Play VF Vanilla day.

 

I've found that using Akira again in vanilla has forced me to buffer my CDs > dbl palm better. The characters really float in FS so if you don't do a perfect CD buffer, it's not a big deal but in vanilla, the dbl palm doesn't connect in some combos (e.g.: Youhou, 6p, Knee, dbl palm) unless it's buffered perfectly. So I think I can have a stronger overall Akira in the VF series if I practice a lot of my combos in older versions, rather than FS. Ofcourse, there are some FS-specific combos which don't work in any of the other games that I've learnt but they're very easy anyway so it's not a big deal.

I feel so badass getting the true DLC in vanilla though .

 

The only time you should feel manly hitting DLC is in VF2. Everything after that is just child's play.

 

There is no DLC in VF2...

If you're referring to the SPoD, I can do that in VF2 fine

 

Oh man, called out. I meant the VF3 version...yeah...

 

Yep, can do DLC in VF3 . I just feel badass in VF5 because of Akira's grunt when you do the true DLC
