    i found this move on a FAQ and cannot decipher part of it:

    f,SCR,b+PG -> f,d+PG or b,d+PG -> d,u+PG -> d/f+PG

    what does SCR mean?

    one other question, when timing aoi's reversals and inashi, should the command be inputed as the animation for the attack starts or closer to when it is actually going to strike her?

    thanks in advance :)

    That FAQ is incorrect.

    The correct method of getting the 4-Dan throw is:

    HCF+P+G or HCB+P+G -> b,d+P+G or f,d+P+G -> u,d+P+G -> d/f+P+G (ground throw)

    You can not get the ground throw if the 3rd Dan is d,u+P+G.

    Isn't that the other way around? Jeff?
    you can't get it if it is u,d+P+G, you can only get it when it is d,u +P+G.

    Mike's right. The 3rd dan must be d,u+P+G in order to get the 4th dan.

    And to the original poster, I think the SCR stood for semi-circular roll.

    Eh? I just tried it out, u,d+P+G it is. It makes sense too, because I remember that the 4-Dan throw was hard to pull off considering most opponents automatically escape d+P+G all the time (escaping the 2nd Dan and 3rd Dan).

    God, no, I'm such a fool, I'm sorry, the you guys are right--it's d,u+P+G that works (u,d+P+G works too, but not guaranteed). I'm sorry, I've got a ton on my mind (too much Econ and CS...). For some reason or another, I had that u,d+P+G - d+P+G escape thingie stuck in my mind as some sort of mnemonic device, when clearly...

    never seen SCR for a half circle roll before...
    i think i'm getting the reversal timing a bit better, i kept doing it too soon.
