Maybe this is a stupid topic... but... for me Aoi is the most nice and cute girl of all VF characters... I like so much "Japanise Style"... and she is the perfect "Japanise Girl"!!! Her grey eyes (or gold for me, in some case...) are so beautiful... her voice so soft and sweet... she is the best for me... also for gameplay character... and, after Sarah, she is the most fast, right???
However, what do you think about her??? In and, in particular, out of the gameplay... /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Annoying? Maybe if you're getting whipped around by reversals. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I enjoy giving her a blonde ponytail and blue eyes with glasses.

And, there you have it, folks. I am officially a pathetic fanboy. GO ME!

Well she's my faviourite character too. Asthetically, I think she's one of the strongest characters in the game. She isn't a martial arts cliche like some characters in VF series I'll not mention. Gameplay wise, I just love her ability to swap between attack and defense very rapidly. You can play Aio in so many different ways. Go on rapid attack or toy with your opponent by messing in yy stance and throwing in lots of reversals.

I find her best against Pai for some reason - probably due to yy being really effective against her. I play some guys at work who religiously use Pai and Shun against my Aio and despite loosing out to an aggressive Pai initially, I find now that I can reverse the hell out of her canned openings and force her into paraniod defence. I find that really satisfying and I've definately got the upper-hand in matches now.

I think Pai is one of the hardest when using Aoi. First, she's quick. Second, she's very balanced in terms of high/mid/low - somewhere around the same level of Lion. Makes reversals hard.

Her crescents (and there are many) a well as [9][K][K], [6][6][K]+[G],[6][K]+[G] and [2_][6][P] will all waste you if you're YY-happy.

Aoi is not my girlfriend, don't worry... she is all for you... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
However my girlfriend find Jacky so beautiful... so I like kick his ass when we play in Versus... /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I find Pai very hard too... maybe because I'm not a "true" Aoi Player... I prefere don't mind so much on Reversal and Cancel Attacks... I just prefere use her speed and her quick attacks... and some powerful throw... /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Yes, a day I want know how make good reversal... /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hmmm... i guess it all depends on the player. His Pai has become very predictable and when he plays aggressively I find I can get in quite a few mid and high reversals that force a tactic change. Generally, you're probably right. Pai played at a high level is probably very hard to reverse, but then I wouldn't know as competition is thin up here and my workmates only play casual VF.

the voice of Aoi is so soft but that's the voice actor!
And the voice actor is a real person.

Aoi was my favourite in the original Virtua Fighter 4, simply because she was the most customisable compared to the other ladies. However, in Evo the likes of Pai and Sarah are just as customisable, and in my opinion, easier to beat the game with, so Aoi has now been relegated.

LOL, I don't know about the second part, but I must admit that I thought Aoi in VF3 is one of the most perfectly designed character I've ever understood.

I have to admit, I adore Aoi because she's Japanese; I've a huge jones
for Oriental women, something about the raven hair light skin contrast.
Aoi in the game has a power to her, despite being probably the lightest of
the lightweights...she's linear, direct, her reversals and any limb-breaking attacks
are just plainly the most brutal (and realistic) of any of the characters, frankly. I think
this is related to my fear of real grapplers...I don't mind boxing a guy, but those
beefy athletes who get you on the ground and start breaking shit, they make me
get watery bowels. So Aoi's strength is in her realism (mostly) when it comes to redirecting force and
exerting that force against the opponent. Aoi is also, I think, the one character in the game aside from
Shun and Pai who automatically puts you in the "underdog" position...they're light, or in Shun's
case slow and hard to control, they lack a lot of power in their basic attacks compared to the big guns,
ect ...but this is all psychological. I didn't use Aoi for the longest time because a Faq referred to
her as "weak" and "for turtlers"...erroneous assumptions not contradicted until I read
GaijinPunch's guide to Aoi and tried her out. She is NOT easy, but the winning with her
    is ultimately far more satisfying.

Heh, Aoi has always reminded me of Batman from Dark Knight Returns - "Something tells me to stop with the leg - I don't listen to it". . . KRACK!

Thankfully her VF4 model no longer looks like a geriatric mongoloid elvis in a kimono ala VF3 . . .

Yes yes yes... her style is fantastiiiiiiiic!!! I like her fast moves and her special throws... now I'm at Warrior rank with her and I'm training with her reversal... I just must understand when make them... the moves aren't so difficult... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That totally sums up why I love using Aio. You have to work hard with her and might find yourself overwhelmed at times, but winning with her is so satisfying. She was also my number one character in vf3 for this reason. Of course back then it was her reversals and ring-out potential I loved. I never tired of luring myself to ring edge then pulling off [4][P][G] or [1][P][G] to win the bout.

or in Shun's case slow and hard to control

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was with you until you came up w/ this. I'll agree that Shun can be a bit queer to control compared to the other characters, but slow he is not. His [3][P], [1][K][K] and Chowan (amongst others) are anything but slow.

While I agree that Aoi's got a bit of a learning curve to her, I never found her really "hard" to control, although I have trouble doing the [6][1] motion w/ any character (Double-stop on 2P side). I'm much better now, but every now and again I'll miscommand.

You'll have to forgive me for insulting Shun. I'm not particularly adept at VF, in general. But I'm making the erroneous statement based on my view of Shun versus Sarah, Lau, and Jacky...it's easier to get into a bad situation while playing as Shun...the rewards of Shun are only revealed after much more hard work on the player's part. My comment on Shun being hard to control is derived from that fine line between having a good, solid plan with Shun, and wishing you'd picked Aoi instead as you watch the old man get wiped. Really though, I shouldn't split hairs. Shun just requires more mental process than I have, but I'm not committed either. Learning Shun is like every math class I ever had; I always ended up saying "I can't do it!"
