    i'm sad and oldskool, but i dont have VF4 in the home, so i still play part 3.......

    anyway, i started to pick up Aoi seriously yesterday, after years of just watching her play, i must say that she has a very slick k-step, and smooth CDing,,,, a couple of questions though..

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    1> her f+p+k, p+k can be done in a p,p combo but how?

    2> i've seen counters, AND i've seen simple knock-aways, is this a different motion?

    3> her back-reversal throw, how is this done?

    2> got any good combos?, the only launchers i know require counter hits, and even that doesnt knock them up high enough to do something serious...
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    i've got her chain throws sussed out, but it's just a couple of minor bits here and there i need to be sure of,....
    ~i'd appreciate some good advice, thanx in advance...~

    Reversals are the standard b+P+K,db+P+K,d+P+K,ub+P+K. Inashi/parry moves are done with b+P,db+P (high P, high/mid K IIRC) and simply give you the advantage. Although Aoi can reverse crescent/sweep moves with the normal reversal commands, the result is an inashi (so although you can reverse PPPd+K, it'll just push them away instead of doing a low kick reversal).

    Combos: Not much here... Try df+P MC -> PPK -> high pounce; you can also do knee/dashing elbow -> high pounce under most conditions.

    It's also important to know where you can get in a ground throw: notably after the full multithrow, low throw or aiki (D,f+P+G) throw, and most high/mid reversals (some stance considerations apply, fire up training mode and see for yourself). There are very few moves more stylish than landing a kickflip reversal -> ground throw for ~80 damage. :)

    Heh, imagine that, I'm sad and oldskool too.../versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

    Anyway, on to your post...

    her f+p+k, p+k can be done in a p,p combo but how?

    That's P, P, f+P, P. Sorta like your standard punch string. You can also G-cancel by tapping G during the last P in f+P, P. Nice set-up for throws, but the CPU doesn't fall for it too often.

    3> her back-reversal throw, how is this done?

    I don't know what you mean. If you're talking about her back throw, then that's done be tapping P+G when the opponent's back is turned.

    i've got her chain throws sussed out, but it's just a couple of minor bits here and there i need to be sure of,....

    HCF+P+G-> b, d+P+G-> d, u+P+G
    HCB+P+G-> f, d+P+G-> d, u+P+G
    HCF+P+G-> d, u+P+G
    HCB+P+G-> d, u+P+G
    The timing isn't too hard, but they're kinda easy to break out of.

    I believe CreeD wrote a faq about Aoi, and there's an Aoi faq written by Jirawat Uttayaya. Both are available in the VF3 section on this site and at Gamefaqs, the last time I checked. Take a look at them both.

    Aoi can reverse high P and K with her back turned towards the opponent.
    The command is B (away from opponent) +P+K.

    Also note that Aoi's sweep is extremely fast and useful. You can combo the sweep into f, f+k, k to get on the other side of your opponent while he's on the ground; if you delay it a little you might even be able to hit your opponent while he's standing up with it. IIRC high pounce is guaranteed after it (haven't played in a while now, so I'm not sure about this).

    thanks, i'll try these out tonight as 3of19 knew what i was talking about with the back-reversals, it's a great help (^_^)

    can't wait till part4 is released, though i just play it in the casino anyway..

    I'M GONNA MISS GOOD OLD K-STEPPING..(-_-)

    The problem with the back reversal is that it can only grab high attacks (which has some fun mind games though: Opponent: He can only grab high attacks, so he won't bet on me being stupid enough doing a high punch)
    It's fun to counter a Dragon Punch from a Kage that just flipped over to you back, hehe :)

    You sure about that? Couldn't aoi counter some mid moves while her back was turned with d/b+P+K, at least in 3?

    Aoi doesn't have a back-turned mid-reversal, df+P+K, in VF3. Only in VF4.

    Aoi's back-turned reversal in VF3 (f+P+K) works on attacks that are reversed as High Punch.

    bare_knuckle, I recommend you digest the VF3 Aoi section on VFDC if you already haven't.
