Applying catch throws

    I'm interested in learning how catch throws work in this game. What frames do they beat attacks? Are they standard all around. This isn't listed in the frame data for Akira's catch throw.

    Also, I noticed that the juggle off of his catch throw will randomly miss opponents (64P+G,8,P+K,466P+K). The last part of that will just magically whiff. Is there any rule to this? Black book combos says it should always hit.

    For some reason it tends to miss against some characters. Ive had this miss on kage several times. Not sure if i was doing something wrong but the timing was still the same

    From the system wiki page: Catch Throws

    The execution frames of Catch Throws were never published, so you'd have to experiment in order to find out what their effective frame differences are.

    You need an ever-so-slight delay between /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif just to get an extra bit of dash for range.

    Remember, if /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif combos stop working, mix it up. Be creative, Akira has a lot of good tools.

    Sebo, I'm not sure what you are talking about here. As far as I know, there is nothing to block after the initial catch throw is successful. It is all up to user execution to get their damage from that point.

    You have three damage options after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif connects. All three options can be defended by the opponent if they enter /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

    Ah, I see it now on the frame data. I don't think I knew what that was, til I was looking at options for breaking vanessa's punches while on the ground. In fact, I was wondering why it said the options after the catch throw were minus on block.

    Sebo, I now see the insight/application uses for the guard staggers you referenced. I guess it was initially hidden behind the almost dismissive retort -_-. Thanks.

    With 1/3 guessing game for Akira's Catch Throw, you can make it uglier by simply not pressing anything after it and doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

    One mixup posted for the catch throw was after the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif step, do the guard break to the side of their body...

    After the Break, I find myself doing his standing palm, crouch punch, double palm or single palm - elbow combo. Launching with the first kick of his double hop kick and then DLC does shatty damage /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

    Nice post! It does whiff against Kage, that is true. It has nothing to do with not dashing. It's a glitch or something.

    Not a catch throw, but can anyone recommend a good follow up (if there are any) to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif? It leaves them standing with their back turned.

    Id go for maybe one of the options sidekick (for CH sidestun)
    throw (this works very well against most non-noob players)
    break guard
    or just some normal launcher like knee (Right now Im not sure of the frame adv.)
