ha you joker, (I wanna see some of the lame answers the U.K peeps give), we'll I'll give it a go since I got a few mins:

    1. Yes and no (you need to define often /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) but in this case we'll settle for yes.

    2. Yes

2 b. Yes 90's London scene had more locations, better variety of games (namco wonderpark, sega arcade in bottom of hamleys etc) but you already know this.

    3. Yes umm a certain 3d fighting game, preferably latest version, Virtua Tekk something or other, also racing games like Outrun 2 (again latest version SP /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) and stuff you don't get to play at home otherwise, whether it be for technical, space( see racing game cabinets, ride type things) or competitive reasons.

    4. Yes

5.. Depends, they both offer different things in my view, the main draw of public gaming i.e Arcades is competition, socialising, improving your game through shared knowledge etc, tournaments, number of people you can play in real time without lag /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif , competitive games being the main draw with big stuff you can't play at home being the other, e.g I call the fairground type games, with big cabinets you get into, see racing games Fzero, outrun, gun games with big screens and big guns ^_^
Is home gaming more enjoyable? In terms of competition enjoyment no, in terms of other genres then yes.

    6. Can't answer as I didn't give a straight yes or no answer,
Ok if I say yes it's because Home gaming offers more variety, better maintained equipment /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif
If I say no it's because you don't get the same "Gaming Buzz" from playing in a competitive Arcade.

    7. U.k Arcades= SHIT (don't know about parts of Europe heard it's even lamer, haha)
    Rest of the World= Better
Japan= The best Arcades and the standard bar to aim for , but I aint optimistic, gaming needs to be more accepted culturally first.

(Can't believe I typed that much, BK you owe me a fiver!)

    1) provided that are good arcades to visit, yes.

2)hmm, seriously.. maybe about a year ago, tops.
2b)yes, i do remember. it's dramaticly different from what we see today(atleast in the U.S. scene). as there used to be tons of arcades, now there's only a select few.

3)yes, there a few. VF is top on my list, as well as SF, and San Fransisco Rush. just to name a few.

    4) yep, did(only the versions i deemed being close to the arcade, but in VF 4's case, the PS2 is shit when trying to mimic the dual PowerVR 2 CLX of the naomi 2).

5)no. arcades are much more open ended, allowing for mass gatherings and competitions, whereas home is limited in space, and how many friends you can have over.

6)i grew up with arcades, i have many fond memories of past wins, loses, and it was just plain fun.

    7) sadly, arcades outside of asia are in a downfall. with lazy site ops not advert new games, it's pretty much doomed.

00's: Uber joints closed up. the rise of midsize joints with japanese games/cabs in asian parts of town
    3. VF... pretty much only VF, and foos (not a video game)
    4. Yes

Forgo to add my impressions of the late 80's to early 90's Arcades scene, where you could hear the the sound of Sonic Boom , Hadoken! Haaaaaghhh! (Cody's special from final fight /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) round literally every street corner, subway etc.

    1. very unregulary, but not often in the whole
    2. eh, today. great since they have 3rd strike now (imagine that /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

2b. Most kids from Belgium not living directly in the city get in touch with arcades through travelling fairs icoming to their village or arcades at more tourist places like at the sea,etc.. As a kid I recall that we looked with complete amazement at what the older guys pulled & especially showed off-AT FIGHTING GAMES. the rest of the games were barely looked at and the new titles would make their way the next time the fair arrived while the older titles stayed. This has totally vanished allready many years from now. The arcades at smaller fairs now hardly contain any fighter or any recent title nor people playing them. This is also true for the arcade at the sea I visited as a kid & even again last summer: the fighting titles had mostly vanished, SC2 was the only recent fighting title & inthe overall arcade machines made place for slots & the rubbish with the silver coins and so on. Some other arcades in that same region do contain recent titles also for fighters but the problem their is that they are hardly crowded. Speaking for now i do know an arcade in Brussels that contains prominently fighters & has a pretty hardcore 2d audience.

    3. Virtua fighter 2,4, sega rally, outrun2, cadillacs & dinosaurs(really young than /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)time crisis1&2, and soon: SF3 third strike /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    4. VF4 Tc1&2 and SF3:yes

    5.yes, apart from beat'em ups

    6. cheaper, more laid back. concerning beat'em ups it's the thrill of the stranger next to you that makes it more worthy: would he be better or worse...

    7. From what I know in Belgium it's rubbish & in my mind the UK seems cool, until you also hear UK people complain about the industry so I suppose all of Europe is rubbish. Japan is known as the pinnacle but than you read that the bussiness is in regression for many years now...so to sum up: not in good shape
