    Hi folks.

    I have a question for catch22, and for all the other arcade stick addicted players. What fingers do you use for the Guard, Punch, Kick buttons?

    I can't figure out what's best, if it's thumb-[G],indicator-[P],and middle finger-[K] , or indicator-[G] , middle finger-[P], ring finger-[K].

    Please help me. And don't tell me: "use the finger scheme you prefer" because I want to know what really is the best. I'm really stupid you know... /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

    Thumb? I use indicator [G] , middle finger [P], ring finger [K]. It's just personal preference anyway it doesn't matter which one you use.

    Just use whichever feels more natural too you and work with it. I use indicator, middle, ring but again that's just me. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    yep
    [G]=thumb
    [P]=index
    [K]=middle

    Really though, if you look at the positioning of the fingers, this is how THE ARCADE GODS WOULD LIKE you to play, as using the above, you'll notice the fingertips fall right on the buttons (VF4 button config.)

    But yeah, use what you feel comfortable with.

    I actually switch around between the two when I play... So just use however way you are comfortable with. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    I use index/middle/ring, personally. Though, most of that is due to my button layout being mostly horizontal.

    I use thumb for G.

    I don't think that one is better than another cause

    it could be a matter of adaptation.

    Sticking with what you've been doing is the best.

    Just to share an experience that i met this guy at arcade few years back playing SoulCalibur during my uni day in michigan.

    His right-hand is controlling the joystick,
    His left-hand is controlling the buttons,
    He has consistent winning streak and it is against strong players.

    Yeap, he is crossing his hand when playing.

    My point, it is the execution of the commands that matters the most. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    When I play in the arcades, I have to use: thumb, pointer, and middle. At home, I use the other way 'cause the buttons are much closer together.

    Personally, I would probably be able to do lots of stick inputs easier with my right hand.. I couldn't possibly break the habbit of left hand on directions and right hand on buttons tho

    Some of the older books on video games suggested that if you ever got to a point where you were better than the people you were facing (or was just cocky), it recommended crossing up your hands for added difficulty. I've tryed it and am pretty good at it now.
