Arcadia July Tier Lists (final ver. A) and Top 10

This is the final version A tier list, as version B is already out in arcades, and it was put together by two players, one of whom owned me a few days ago. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif The Kantou version is done by Yanagapai, a strong Tokyo player, and the Kansai version was done by Hauru, a regular at Monte 50 in Osaka, and considered to be the strongest Kage player in the Kansai region. The difference between the two lists is that the Kantou players usually consider maximum damage to be the most important aspect, whereas Kansai players consider how easy it is to hit your opponent to be most important.

Wow, so KOF didn't even dent the top 10?

Sucks that my mains are seen as weak (Kage/Akira) though.

 

KOFXII didn't reach the top 10? ah well. And go Lion absolute top tier!

 

Games that are getting or got a console release are roundly doing better than VF5R...

Man, always seeing lei so low makes me sad.

But, on the other hand, if we do ever get this, then it will be so long from now that these tier lists don't really make any difference. And i don't really know how they nerfed him and if it will effect me.

On the other hand, goh looks like a monster. I look forward to getting my hands on him.

What is up with Taka? Do you think maybe they don't want to be accused of making the new characters OP, or worry that they will be unbalanced, so they go conservatively when balancing them to avoid alienating existing players?

 

They didn't do that with Eileen or Blaze, who turned out just fine the first time around. Eileen was S tier in the first version of 5, and Blaze was B tier, which is average (not awesome but not terrible). Jean is the same way with 5R now... he's good but not too good. Taka just got screwed over, really. Main problem is that he gets punished too hard for his main combo starters, so he has to rely on lower damage options and extremely good yomi to win.

 

Thanks for the info Reno like always! I have a question though, do you know why Pai is on the bottom even below Taka?

 

It probably won't affect you besides the fact that the other characters would be powered up to fight him now. So he's probably just as strong as vanilla 5, but others got needed boosts. Personally I'd still have a tough time defending him anyway due to my inexperience vs lei fei, but atleast with Sarah I can deal some heat against the entire cast finally.

One issue with vanilla 5 was that some characters were just terrible underpowered, in that some key moves didn't give enough rewards based on what the move does and how it fits in the grand scheme of that character, and some had random whiffed hitbox effects or were too high so stuff would slip under them all the time.

Every character had good stuff, but when we all say stuff like so and so doesn't have something, I think it's based on the rewards. Some things didn't give good enough reward to where it doesn't come together well and the character falls apart.

 

I'd have to ask the same thing, from what I've seen Pai is even more crazy than she was in Vanilla 5. If anything shouldn't Vanessa be that low? I have yet to see many videos of people playing her. Just because Taka is so low on the tier list doesn't mean I won't main him whenever/if they decide to release R.

It hit pretty late in April IIRC, and there's usually a lead time of a couple months on these.

 

I see. Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully some of the top Jpn players make their comments on the game as well.
