Region free DVD? I don't think my region free DVD player works anymore.

Probably won't be, most of the previous ones aren't.

    VLC works a treat though.

To clarify some of the names, Yutenji is the player on the Stardust Crusaders, and the Jacky player in the semi-finals is Anaguma

But will my DVD drive in my computer read the DVD (through VLC player) even if my DVD drive in my PC is locked at Region-1 or whatever?

I play DVDs from Japan on my computer through VLC, when if I played them through anything else it would tell me to change region. I believe it bypasses the region-check, but have never looked into it further.

The short answer: If you have an RPC1 DVD drive, then VLC will ignore the region coding on it and play any region DVD. If it's an RPC2 DVD drive, it may or may not work.
