Myke was kind enough to send me some scans of the latest arcadia, procured by the efforts of Shou. I've done my best to read through them, but they tend to fade away at the bottom of the page, making character recognition very hard. Anyway, I'll post what I can make out. Where I can't read it, I'll make it clear.

Title - Knowledge relating to down attacks.

    Knowledge relating to down attacks.
This month, we introduce the ideal way to avoid down attacks and the guaranteed retaliations after eating a down attack. If you can apply these in a real battle it should have a big influence on your winning percentages.

Down attacks in this game have a set directions in which they are easy to evade by side rolling, depending on your opponent.
Small down attacks (henceforth small downs) for Jeffrey, Lion and Lei are easier to evade stomach side, and for the others back. For large down attacks (henceforth large downs) Jacky, Sarah, Vanessa (offensive) and Brad's knee stomp style attacks, and wolf are all easier to evade towards the stomach, and the other characters are easier to evade towards the back. Also, for small and large down attacks, when you are face up head towardsor face down feet towards, some down attacks can be avoided by simply rising in place. When you are off axis, (such as after Goh's [6][6][P]counter hit[4][P]+[G]) it's easier to evade in the opposite direction.

    Fuzzy fuzzy

    Guaranteed attacks after pounces.
After a wall combo or when you are knocked back, and in face down head towards position, you are often attacks by a large attack. Fuzzy fuzzy.
The ones that are easy to connect are Jacky, Sarah, Vanessa (Offensive) and Brad's knee attacks, and Jeffrey's Raiden drop ([2][K]+[G]) Fuzzy fuzzy. In addition to the conditions being strict, if you mess up you will be guarded, so it is high risk, but if you are able to do this well, it is so useful as to have an effect on the battle. Fuzzy fuzzy
Also, the mid kick from face down feet towards is very fast, so in addition to the above mentioned characters, it will also work on Pai and Shun.

    Cpations - For example, after Jacky's [3] [P][P][P]connects ...
... you get quite a fuzzy. Hoewver, if you mess-up, you will take even more damage.

    Table
This was originally in table form, but I'm far too lazy to make it into a table again. Suffice to say, A,B,C correspond to what the three columns were.

    C=How to deal with it

    C - Rise in place

    A - Lau
    B - Tiger stance [6][P]hit[P]+[G] small down
C - Fastest possible mid rising attack

    A - Pai

    C - Roll towards stomach

    A - Pai
    B - Opponent crouching [2][P]+[K]+[G] small down
    C - Rise in place

    A - Wolf
    B - [4][K]+[G]hit[P]+[G] [4][6][K]+[G]
    C - Rise in place

    A - Wolf
B - KS Front low kick
    C - Roll towards back

    A - Wolf
B - Opponent BT crouching [1]or[2]or[3][P]+[K]+[G] small down

    A - Jeffrey
B - Opponent left or right crouching [2]or[3]or[2][6][P]+[K]+[G] Large down
    C - Roll towards back

    A - Kage
B - Jumoji while running [3][K]+[G]Hit[P]+[G] small down
C - Fastest possible mid rising attack*

    A - Shun
B - Opponent back to the wall [4][P]+[G] Large down
    C - Roll towards back

    A - Aoi
    B - [4][6][P]+[G] small down
    C - Rise in place

    A - Aoi
    B - [4][6][P]hit[P]+[G] small down
    C - Rise in place

    A - Vanessa (defensive)
    B - Left side [P]+[G] small down
    C - Roll towards back

    A - Vanessa (offensive)
    B - Right side [P]+[G] Large down
    C - In place

    A - Goh
    B- [6][6][P]counter hit[4][P]+[G] small down

Well there's always room for mistakes. But really depending on your opponent's oki game you could easily forgoe the tech, avoid the pounce and concentrate on avoiding the damage pickup. options.

on another note, the fall after KS is a special position and requires perfect TR.... therefore it's not as easy as you think to consistantly recover.

you probably dont play a KS-happy wolf often.

Thanks. All arcadia info is ALWAYS great. Is it a monthly magazine? Does it always have a VF section in it with info like this?

    Re: Arcadia May

Arcadia is a monthly magazine, covering what's going on in Arcades at the time. They get some of the better writers to do articles on current games. There's also a section where they look back at old games (decide who was dominating etc.) although these days that's mainly to talk about XX#R tournaments = not so good.

As games get older they get fewer and fewer pages, so where T5 had >20 pages when it first came out, now it's only a few.

It is a great magazine, and I love reading it. If only someone could scan all pages of all issues, I'd be in heaven. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well... I find it easy to tech. The trick is not to do it right away, but rather delay the p+k+g press right after you hear the sound effect. Merely timing. (And it's not that bad)

    i said that it's a perfect TR...

you just explained what a perfect TR is /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

in the same way ppl screw up a spinning land or an air slam in which they know pretty well how to time, this happens too. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
