I was wondering if anyone else plays this game. The game is very similar to vf where a lot of number crunching, finesse and technique is involved. Despite the bad reviews, (because game reviewers slaughter any game with difficulty) the online play is the showcase.

hopefully these videos might inspire some play as did high level VF vids

Try ACRavens.com. haven't registered myself yet but it's supposedly the spot for all your AC4 needs (or will be in the near future).

Since AC4 is such a niche title, i assume that any site you stumble across will be at least somewhat decent though.

I haven't played AC since psx though so I'm not really a good authority. I'm playing this one for sure though (as long as I have fun doing so).

AC ravens is a viral website setup by a 3rd party marketing group with promotional prizes in effort to promote the game. Not that its a bad thing, but i remember a site just like it ablecompany.net that promoted company of heroes, and soon closed weeks after the games launch. Just looking around for a site that'll stay around for the long run.

I know someone that's heavily into AC and is probably going to help me catch up on what I've missed over the years, somewhat. He's directed me to a few sites a couple of times...i plan to ask hime what they are again now that I have the game as i'm also curious about this. once I find out i'll mention more.

Yeah true. But even then, it's not AC's goal to play like Gundam would play. Sure, mechs are involved, but that's about where most similarities end.

still haven't picked it up, I've been playing them since the first AC game on playstation. 4 is just alot different than any previous installment and im having a hard time getting used to it.

you cant deny the influence though, laser swords and guns, its sort of a mix between gundam and macross.

Apart from non-proprietry joystick controls, these games have nothing on the Virtual On series!

Thats what I wanna see. Another Virtual On!!! That game is the kewlest.

As of now on the 360 version in the US. The regulation is "supposed" to be getting updated to tone down some of the laser weapons.

Hopefully they do how ever because no one uses anything else.

There are 3 types of mechs lol.
    1.Dual Laser Rifles
2.Angel Wings and Dual Laser Rifles
    3. (RARE) Something other Dual Laser Rifles and Angel Wings

Basically the Laser Rifles that do great PA damaging do it a bit to well to the point where there is no reason to even have any other weapon. The Angel Wings are one hit kills (hard to hit with so not much of a problem). Supposedly the updated regulation is out in Japan for the PS3 already. So I hope they balanced it some.

That's not really a fair comparison though as one is more arcadey (VO) while the other is more sim like (AC). Besides, AC allows you to deeply explore the whole tech side of things (Big time mecha fans love creating and tuning their mechas). However, if you aren't looking to delve into those kind of intricacies, AC will probably put you off (it's easy to spend a lot of time making a good looking mech only to have it perform like ass if you don't delve deep into everything). Don't get me wrong, I've been waiting for years for the next VO game as it's one of my favorite series but they are two different types of games. Really, the only thing they have in common is mechas.

Anyway, still want the next VO sooner rather than later. Been waiting for years. On top of that, online play would probably work well in VO and who can deny that it would be great to have endless people to play (AC is fun online too btw) =D

    Exactly.,

AC series is to mecha games what VF is to fighting games.

And actually AC 4 has just pretty much done the same thing that VF 5 did. Both of these have tried to broaden their market by making the game friendlier to noobs. Interestingly enough Sega is now involved with the production of the Armored Core series.

While anyone can understand the profit motive in wanting to expand the market. It would be nice if they could figure it out
without toning things down for the hardcore group.

All AC games have had broken or overpowered weapons tho. In 2 it was the middle missles/extra missle extension and the Karasawa laser rifle has always been a beast. In 3, machine guns were very strong, and the machine gun arms parts could end an arena battle quickly. And in Nexus it was the dual laser cannon that took like 3000AP a shot.

well atleast this game has consistent regulations patching to prevent that. Hopefully publishers outside of japan can keep up with FROM SOFTWARES patching. NA regulations are 1.10 while japan is at 1.30 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Myke dont be so quick to discredit a game before trying it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

AC-garage seems like a decent site, too bad AC-online still isnt working /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
