Has anyone played Ascension: Chronicle of the Godlslayer(iOS)?
(Official Information & Website of Ascension is linked at the bottom of this post)

I play the Deck Building Game in paper as well as on iOS and I highly recommend this game! It's worth the full 4.99 on iOS and $35 at your nearest boardgame/card shop.

If you have Game Center for iOS, I have the same username (Chanchai), so feel free to challenge me to some fun games of Ascension!

Ascension Rules! (Sorry, not this isn't the rulebook)
Ascension is generally compared to Dominion which popularized Deck Building Games and is pretty much the gold standard for the genre.

However, while it was inspired by Dominion, I would mainly describe it as "Drafting in a Box" (or drafting on your iPhone/iPad). What makes this game good and separates it from Dominion is the drafting element and how that will ultimately affect your success in the game--you cannot just play it like Dominion. You need to adjust to what others are doing and you also have to manage the luck of the draw (of the cards being made available for drafting). It is very much like drafting Magic the Gathering (without being expensive).

Ascension has strategy to it factored much by:
    * The type of cards you decide to go for (the in-game strategy). What type of deck are you trying to win with.

    * How "open" or "closed" you are with your strategy. Will you readjust your drafting after some rounds? Or are you going to stick to the strategy you've been going with. How committed are you to your first strategy?

    * How you manage the luck of the cards being made available.

    * How you are reacting to what your opponents are doing.

Ascension = Deck Building + Drafting

    Deck-Building Game?
So what are deck building games?I recommend you watch the video (linked) , try it out yourself, or have a friend show you because these kinds of games take roughly 2 minutes to learn by seeing--but 5-15 minutes to take in by reading and conceptualizing.

However, here's my lousy attempt at explaining Deck Building Games.

They are self-contained games (so you won't have to buy extra cards or boosters like in Magic the Gathering) where each player begins with a small library of cards. Throughout the game you acquire more cards that you will continually use as you draw them from your library (which you will reshuffle every time you draw your "last card"). In Ascension, the game ends around the time a certain amount of points have been taken total by all players. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

    ANYWAYS, HERE'S THE THING:

    * Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is awesome. I've been hooked for months!

    * The iOS version of the game is very good, I highly reccommend it!

    * I'm on Game Center for iOS, add me: Chanchai

    * It's 2-5 players. Technically it can be played 1 player as well.

    * A Deck-Building game like Dominion. But it's better to say it's Deck-Building + Drafting! Or as I say it, "Drafting in a Box."

    * There will be an expansion (already out in cardboard/paper, I have it too). You don't have to get it. But honestly, it's also awesome!

    * I look forward to playing with you!
