Avoiding Players

On a side note to the pulling threads, it has always been said that if a player really doesn't like how another player is playing, instead of cable pulling, you should either work throw it or take your loss and just ignore the player in the future if it really bothered you that much.

OK I don't cable pull. I have 182 losses and a low rank I am about to be demoted from that say otherwise. But I did come across a player who's turtle style annoyed me to the point I really really really wanted to pull the cable. Ultimately I didn't but still, it was that annoying. I took my loss and fine, I can ignore this guy and move on.

Here's the problem, even though I put the player on ignore, he still kept showing up challenging me as if the avoid function just wasn't working. Once I create the match I can't get out of it. I won't cable pull so I was stuck fighting this guy who i really didn't want to for three just stoopit annoying fights.

I ended up just standing there and let him use me a practice dummy. I swear it took him 2 rounds to firgure out I wasn't moving. I took the losses because oh well, the losses out of that many matches, I'll live. I still refused to pull the cable.

But god did I ever really want to. If the avoid feature just isn't working, is it really that bad if I pull the cable? I tripled check that he was on avoid. I am sure it is set that way, but I kept getting challenges from him. Challenges that I have to accept or pull the cable. By making him an avoided player I thought I was declining all future challenges from him, why didn't this work?

It's cause AM2 seriously fucked up with this feature. I stated that a bit earlier in my Pulling thread. I honestly believe if this feature worked in this game I would have avoided pulling altogether. I've played DoA4 since it was released and not once have I bailed during play in that game. Hell I even finished majority of the lag matches as well. But it was always because I knew the avoid option would work afterwards.

As much as I love Virtua Fighter and as much as I appreciate online play, I have to say this match making is perhaps some of the worst. I can only hope and pray that 10 years from now technology will have so greatly improve that we would not have to worry about shit like this.

Avoiding players have never completely stopped you from being matched up with them in any game I've played on live. So it's not just VF5 related.

Honestly if you leave at the ready screen you aren't much of a cable puller. What if you didn't want to face him, at least he didn't earn anything or lose anything to not deserve getting cable-pulled, it's a freedom of choice that necessarily wasn't built into the multiplayer.

At the risk of getting seriously flamed here Jaku, let's just say I have maybe contemplated that action into experimental practice, yeah... that's the ticket.

Haha. I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of people do it man, nothing to worry about. If someone flames you for something like leaving at the ready screen on Xbox Live, it's like someone complaining about you going to the dashboard after leaving the menu, I really think to begin with you should have the choice to not accept or to accept a battle.

That does suck. But such is the nature of rated matches, man. I would have went back to quickmatching for a few mins to avoid playing him.

Chunbelievable did you ever think that maybe you just suck at the game if everytime you come across someone who plays with a different style than what you are used to and you lose, you either throw the match or quit the game? Don't freakin make rooms if you don't want to play people that don't fall for your scrub tactics. Just use quick match. You're freakin pathetic.

Uh....I am the first to admit I suck at the game, never claimed otherwise. Have I?

And dude you had five straight wins in a row on me without so much as me getting a round.... um I get it, you're better. You racking wins on the obviously not good player or am I that much fun to beat up on?

You have to understand that due to the sketchiness of that matchmaking, must of us just start mashing A so that we can at least GET into a match. Otherwise, you get that "unable to connect" BS. I don't check to see who I'm fighting first. You do that, and it's too late a lot of the time.

Despite what you may think, I honestly enjoy fighting ANYONE. If good players beat me 20 in a row, they may get tired, but I don't. I enjoy it because I begin to try things and see what can work out of my game. You see something 1 million times, then you get to understand it and can avoid it. It is the scrub mindset that keeps wanting to run from a challenge and call things cheap.

To be honest, I didn't think you were a "bad player" or anything. I didn't even expect to win when I was fighting you. I merely knew I wanted to try my best, as I myself am not good by any means either.

Just for the record, I didn't think you were cheap. I never claimed anyone or any tactic to be cheap. You had me on lock down plain and simple. After 5 matches is it really that bad that I didn't want to be your punching bag anymore?
