    Hey guys,

I would like to know what are some of those awkward situations in VF5 that you just absolutely hate to be in. For me right off the bat I can tell you I absolutely hate to fall victim to 2 of Lau's situations.

The first one is being hit by [6][6][P]+[K] . I absolutely hate this situation because Lau's follow options from this are just so darn strong. He can turn around with a fast mid punch that goes straight in a combo with a great mid kick (somersault kick) or low full circular kick (spinning sweep kick) guessing game. He also can just turn around quickly and throw or do the [6][6][P]+[K] again. If the move is guarded he can do [9][K] to get away or he can just turn around with [2][K] which is a low half circular sweep. Sheeesh so many great options.

Another situation from Lau that I hate is when I get hit by [8][K][K] or [8][K]+[G][K] (same move for those who didn't know except the [K]+[G] version is 1 frame faster) . Again when hit by this move, Lau's options are just really damn strong.

I have a few other situations I hate to be in, but I really would like to hear from the rest of you guys about yours. When you give your answer can you please use the guides that I have laid out below?

Thanks my VFDC brethrens and sisters.

    1) Name of the character
    2) Move command using the command symbols
    3) Why you hate this situation
    4) Do you think the situation is too good and should be toned down?
    5) Do you literally get upset when you are facing an opponent who keeps putting you in this situation?
    6) How do you overcome it during the match or session?
    7) How do you prepare to overcome it in the future?
    8) Do you ask other players for help with finding an answer?
    9) If yes to #8, is the person who is doing it to you among the players that you asked for help?
    10) If you figured out the ultimate solution to this problem would you share it with others or keep it to yourself?

For those who DO NOT have something positive to say then please ignore this thread. I'm so tired of seeing people making threads to watch them go to shit by the 4-5 post. Be an adult and not a child. If you are not contributing positively then don't contribute at all it's really that simple. Thank you!

    1. Jacky, Akira, Sarah, etc.

    2. Jacky: [6_][K][G] Akira: [4][6][P],[2][1][4][P] Sarah: Flamingo startups

    3. Basically situations where your opponent could guess wrong and still get another advantageous guess anyway. A lot of them have possibilities of high damage on hit and CH as well. There are pseudo situations like this where your left at a disadvantageous position because of chain followups like Jacky's [4][P].

    4. They are not too bad, they are much worse in games like Tekken and SF. They are kinda important to the game because they help break up your-turn-my-turn gameplay, but they still can be kinda annoying.

    5. Nope.

    6. Just try to outguess my opponent after I'm put into the situation or try to avoid it before it happens.

    7. Jacky's [6_][K][G] when you block it you have to guess. There's really no way around it other than stopping it before it happens. Akira moves though I could probably do stuff like backdash elbow because the advantage is so small and most players will just try to get a CH 2P after them. Sarah's Flamingo, fuzzy guard will avoid the catch throw but you still have to guess mid, low, jab stuff. Some of her startups don't allow her enough advantage to apply a good mixup. Attacking out of those is probably the best solution.

    8. I used to exchange a lot of information with Glory and Slide when we were new to the game. If someone found something the other couldn't beat, we'd try to help the other person by telling them the weaknesses etc.

    9. Yup. Most people I've asked didn't have a problem with helping me find a solution early on.

    10. I'd share it with other people. But there really isn't a solution to beat every option like this. I get PM's about people asking how to do certain things, I have no problem with telling people everything I know.

EDIT: Good threads, I'll probably respond to the other one at some point.

    2. [6][P][G], [P][P][6][P][G], [P][P][6][P][P][G] (and many more)
    Basically all her string cancels.

    3. I eat CH and throws all day out of this situation.

    4. I can't make a real statement on whether or not it should be toned down since I'm sure there's an answer, I just don't know it.

    5. Sometimes.

    6. I usually don't overcome it, just random guessing and losing to it.

    7. I'll overcome it in the future by hitting the post button in a minute here! Help me out! But no, seriously, [P]+[K] sabaki?? Dunno.

    8. I'm asking them for help now, PM me or something to avoid derailing this thread ^^

    9. Never asked an Aoi for help on this so no.

    10. If anyone answers NO to this they should be beaten. We need all the info sharing we can get to catch up to Japan ^^

    11. Follow Rodney's format bitches.

(This is inspired by Gentleman_Thief's reply:)

    1) Name of the character

    Lei Fei

    2) Move command using the command symbols

[2] [P] [+] [K], [P] (i think, the one where he does an evasive hit then a second one that leaves him BT)

    3) Why you hate this situation

Because after blocking two mid attacks it seems like i still don't have the advantage.

    4) Do you think the situation is too good and should be toned down?

Maybe; it's hard to tell, i mean Lei Fei is still BT so technically he can't defend but with his options out of BT the -6 on block seems trivial. I think the main problem is that most characters' moves that could backstagger/backcrumple him get sabakied by his [P].

    5) Do you literally get upset when you are facing an opponent who keeps putting you in this situation?

Once i stumbled upon a Lei Fei player abusing this while using Brad. It wasn't funny. With Vanessa it's a gamble, her back charge kick will evade both his sabaki and magic kick and net me a combo. His low kick to punches combination nails her though. With Lion, [IMG] [6] [P] [+] [K] is suposed to net me a backcrumple on CH but suck at buffering.

    6) How do you overcome it during the match or session?

To be honest most of the time i just end up freezing since it seems like Lei Fei players raraly to throw from that situation. I'm aware that i'm giving up the advantage though [IMG]

    7) How do you prepare to overcome it in the future?

...i guess the whole point is moot since the string is slow and technically somebody with good reflexes could avoid the second hit and float Lei Fei for free [IMG] so maybe mentally prepare for the string and evade?

    8) Do you ask other players for help with finding an answer?

Nah, it's been discussed in the past in VFdc and the answer has always been: do shoulder ram/somersault/some other mid attack that beats all of Lei Fei's Options.

    10) If you figured out the ultimate solution to this problem would you share it with others or keep it to yourself?

I don't think there's an ultimate "solution" to the this situation since, well, it's only +6, nothing guaranteed.

    1) Name of the character

    Anyone.

    2) Move command using the command symbols

    0f throw.

    3) Why you hate this situation

Because it happens instantly, can't react to it or see it. You just have to prevent it.

    4) Do you think the situation is too good and should be toned down?

Yeah, but it already did get toned down when R came out. Due to the ability to hold input for a throw escape guard.

    5) Do you literally get upset when you are facing an opponent who keeps putting you in this situation?

    Nah, no reason to.

    6) How do you overcome it during the match or session?

This weird fuzzying that I used to do where I try to stay inbetween crouching and standing, looks like fast squats. It keeps me from remaining idle, so I can see throw hands, or stand in time for slow mids. I actually saw it in a Japanese match before too, but I think I had been doing that before I saw that. Who knows if it's even truly effective, it worked for me though.

    7) How do you prepare to overcome it in the future?

I would just guess HUGE when I expected one, unfortunately that is tough online. Offline, I would use Serpent canon though, so I can check the first hit. Online I would often just get thrown when I saw the setups coming.

    8) Do you ask other players for help with finding an answer?

Nope. The answers available were known already, it was just up to me to stop it.

    9) If yes to #8, is the person who is doing it to you among the players that you asked for help?

    n/a

    10) If you figured out the ultimate solution to this problem would you share it with others or keep it to yourself?

I don't believe my solution was the ultimate, but I always shared whatever I found in the game with whomever wanted to hear.

Wow, I can't believe this hasn't turned into a Shun bashing yet. =)

You know, I've noticed within the last year that people deal with my Shun a lot better than toward the beginning of online play. I even notice this with people I haven't played or barely played before.

I know much of this has to do with simply playing against Shun so much, but I hope I'm not getting lazy and predictable. =(

Well Shuns online multiplied so people got used to the passive aggressive Shun play. I find people a little confused with my aggressive Shun as of late lol.

Sadly....it loses to passive aggressive Shun styles [IMG]

Faulty how? Have you mastered avoiding all weird situations? And I'm not just talking about Shun shenanigans. I still have a hard time dealing with Wolf players who spam [9][P]+[K] and DMs all day.

Maybe you meant the topic title was faulty?

Well frankly there was almost 30 days of nothing being said before J even posted so get your head out your ass. The thread never left the train station. If this forum section wasn't so dead in general this thread wouldn't even be on the first page.
