    www.sherdog.com

    a real martial arts site.

the only real martial arts are judo/bjj, wrestling, and muay thai - all others have been proven ineffective in actual combat.

if you consider a real fight to be a referee stopping people, sure that applies.
but if you want a real fighter

    mas oyama owns you

if he hit you - you broke = the true god fist

That, of course, is a completely innacurate comment. Having said that there is a huge difference between martial arts as a fighting and self defence discipline and gymnasts performing air kicks.

The martial arts have really begun to focus on the "art" aspect and neglect the martial which is too bad. While pretty it is an inferior product. Sites like bilang showcase the essentially meaningless.

OmG, I think you guys missed the point. This site is for "tricks". And besides, there's nothing wrong with performing tricks. It's like an art, it should be apreciated for it's difficulty and talent. Also I should point out that in the site they also state that what they are doing is strictly for art purpouses. They would never perform any of their tricks in real combat. So you guys need to just chill out and appreciate this for what it's worth.

And Vanity, I don't know what is wrong with you. You have some sort of attitude problem. Oh, and just to let you know, I already know about sherdog.com and others pertaining to real combat.

I didn't miss the point. I just don't consider it a "martial arts site".

I respect martial arts that pride themselves on being either for disciplinary purposes, or for self defense. this is neither. this is gymnastics.

in fact, discipline is an incredibly important aspect of many real martial arts. the idea is prevalent that techniques should only be used in certain situations. this site however completely disrespects this teaching by using the moves entirely to show off - and worse - be judged on them!

I do however stand by my comment. There are essentially 3 combat phases, standing, clinch, and ground. Muay thai has been proven most effective in standing combat, wrestling most effective in clinch, and bjj most effective on the ground. that is not to say that other styles are not able, only that they can not compete at the highest level.

    read the mas oyama site
    he whooped on muy thai

the whole ryu / sagat story came from this guys history, and ryu is essentially based on this man.

If he punched your chest he broke your ribs, if you tried to block with your arms, his punch would break your arms. This guy fought bulls for fun with his bare hands, and could cleave their horns with a chop. No joke.

But even this guy claims he was beaten by someone using taichi. You're clearly brainwashed by the current media, read up on some history, maybe some legends of the shaolin monks are even true.

I'm brainwashed by simple fighting theory?

If one fighter wants to take it to the ground - it will go to the ground.

assuming compentency in doing so. it also assumes the standing fighter has no skills in fending off someone who wants to roll. Either way that statement is incorrect.

Making your core competencies in fighting as fluid as possible ensures victory not subsciribng to genre superiority.

yes and most "karate masters" have very little experience when it comes to dealing with grapplers. yes, grappling alone is inneffective, but grappling alone >>>>> striking alone.

sport karate has a lot to do with this. pedigree karate actually has ground fighting and infighting in their vocabulary.

Again, it doesn't necessarily follow that a grappler with no knowledge of standing fighting will ultimately win. The opposite is true as well.

come unprepared and you come already defeated. period.
