I noticed after half circul throw, I put the foe head facing me face up (sideways), feet sideways facing up, or ne other throw tat puts foe into that position.. I usually would do a roll with Foward PKG, making me backturned hitting them with PK BT after they whiff their while rising..
My question is this..
Sometimes it doesnt always work..And im trying to figure out why, sometimes i dont get backturned after the roll ( although i roll the same direction each time ). I noticed for example with Pai it always seems to work.. Some characters more than others, but the throw and how they are positioned always remain the same.
So im thinking there are several factors that might be the case why the ROLL doesnt always put me into BACKTURN all the time (while evading their, or making their wr kick whiff).
1. It could be that, they have delayed their WR making it half or full circular and im rolling in the wrong direction.
2. maybe i threw them at a closed or open stance thus changing the oki setup??
3. I should be rolling to where the foot is more bent??? like akira?

I was wondering if someone can confirm, so that way I dunt always foward roll taking a risk when im gonna be BACKturn.. cus if that tactic fails, im screwed and the whole point of me being at advantage while their on the ground has gone to waste. BTW, i dont always do this for oki, i just like doing it cus its flashy in casual matches.

Another question.. Akira is suppose to be very linear when they are doing the wr KICK.. or at least half circular, but for some reason i cannot evade, maybe i should be DM to the side where their leg is bent???? But ya since, Akira is suppose to be the best to apply oki, because of his linear and half circular While rising... I was wondering if u guys have any good setups for applying OKI against akira, example.. like doing rolls... or DM WR.. or putting him in SABAKI kick position ( i would assume u can do the sabaki from half circular throw and PG throw.. im sure theres more)

Much appreciated.
-getting the hang of this game finally after 3 months. Goh is hard to use

1. Most likely the opponent is either delaying their rising kick, or not doing the kick at all in which case they will track you. You also have to wait that the rising attakc has started until you go over to the other side. Timing is key.

You may also have to go to the correct direction if the rising kick is halfcircular.

2. All of Akiras rising kicks can be evaded in same direction. Just figure out which direction it is.

ps. I have no idea of the throw or situation or roll you were describing, just wrote down something general about the rising situation.

Tried to find a youtube video so you could see the roll situation he's talking about. But anyway, he means using Goh's roll while they are doing a rising attack. It will roll you past them, leaving both people with their backs to eachother, in which I think BT P+K is guaranteed. I'm assuming your only rolling if they do a rise to the sides. If they just rise in place it won't work.

As for you getting mixed results I can't really say. I don't use the tactic enough, nor does anyone I know. It most likely has to do with the timing of your roll though. If you do it too late I think you'll end up just rolling to their side instead of all the way past them, making you just sideturned instead of backturned.

Whether BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is really guaranteed ... I doubt it. Timing and the way the opponent lies on the ground and rises is so crucial here that I don't quite see an equal outcome except for a fresh air of tactics to surprise your opponent.

hey guys thanks for the reply on my question
( :
I think the BT PK is guaranteed because i have never got it blocked before after their while rising kick whiffs. The recovery time on foes while rising is plenty enough time for the BT PK to execute i think?? i could be wrong...

but neways i was testing this out.. I think the timing has a big outcome of the success of rolling past them.. I also think the biggest condition ( although i havent tested this out too much, im prob wrong on this ) to get backturned is how they are lieing on the ground. Ive noticed sometimes when u do a regular PG or not a half circular throw it puts them in feet up, face towards you ( side ) each n evrytime. However what changes is the angle or distance sometimes. sometimes theres a little more space, the angle seems a lil different, i think its conditional on whether u threw them in closed stance or open. But ill test this out... cause i swear aftering doing this many times, i dont believe its based on luck, but on the condition of the angle (same position head up, feet up, sideways ) n timing (probably has to be delay wr, it doesnt seem to work or work as much with a quick wr )

I've done some testing now. BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is guaranteed. Okizeme with Goh's roll works especially well if the opponent is face up head towards you or in a similar ground position that keeps the mid rising attack as linear as possible. (BTW, this technique only applies to mid rising attacks.)

I dunno why but, even though Goh has quite a lot throws (and other moves) that leave the opponent in that position, only a few selected throws really enable you to roll behind the foe. Just like:
<ul>[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif: Sometimes you land behind the foe, sometimes you don't. Doing the roll as early as possible helps. If you happen to face the opponent vis-a-vis it's possible to go for PK or moves up to 16f execution (e.g. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif). Hard to apply directional input in that situation as, due to the camera, inputs will be reversed.[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
Other throws will also allow you to avoid the opponent's rising attack by rolling, but you will face the opponent vis-a-vis then. This is actually even more rewarding. Punishment options include but are not limited to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or even Basara. Those throws are:
<ul>[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif[*]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif
Goh's many Tsukami throw options also leave high chances for successful Okizeme pressure with the forward roll.

P.S. With /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you can do Goh's double roll getaway /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

Thanks for testing it Leonard. I really wanted to because it's an option I haven't explored much. But my Xbox is in the mail to get repaired from red rings /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Don't understand your last statement though, double roll getaway?

I'm sorry for that, Johoseph, but I had to go through the same pain with my Xbox some weeks ago. (If you don't get a response mail in form of a UPS shipping sticker within two days, call the MS service in person and immediately.)

As for the getaway roll: After /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you can do two rolls in a row (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) in quick succession to get away from your opponent's rising kick hit range. I'd call that Goh's "double roll getaway." Plus, it looks pretty cool :D.

Leonard thanks for testing that out for me
i really appreciate it
( :
I been doing some testing as well on it. For some reason it works better in online matches than in DOJO mode. And you gave me a good idea on why.. its to do with camera angles.... its more of a glitch than anything. In DoJo mode, the camera angle is more consistant and zoomed in.. in real matches because the matches are always chngning and the arena's are always different, sometimes u'll notice that their head is more straight.. sometimes its more tilted towards u to the left, in these situations in my exp rolling into URAMAWARI works almost all the time? I know this could all be in my head, but i think that could be it.. cus i swr, when i do play online... I can usually tell whether to do the roll and be successful, depending on the tilt or camera angle.. I duno how to visually explain what i see.. but my best way to describe it is the camera angle.. and the degree to which they are lieing down.

is there ne reason why u would do this strategy other than it
looks cool? Ive talked to some goh players, they said this is pretty much useless because he has way better oki options than that. Im thinking it has a decent flowchart. roll, BT PK, u can either then either mixup ff PG ( unescable throw after that), 270 throw.. or my favorite do a K in hopes u ca get a CH in go for a stomach crumple combo afterwards. MID RISING attacks are usually i think about -11 - 18?? something like that... I believe the most effective way to punish is bf 1, 270 throw.. etc.. But if their life is full, u might as well take the gamble to deal extra damage with the flowchart. Goh if u think about it, only needs 3 270 throws to win a match. If u do a roll into BT PK, and if u either get a 270 or a K stumple.. that would mean u could kill him with only 1 270 throw? So im thinking when ur adv u apply pressure... n i would think that it, while their life is still high u prob can use this strategy.. while their life is low, u might as well not risk doing this flowchart and just go for a 1 hit punisher, or throw.

Leonard u mentioned that u need to do a half circular PG followed by a d/f p, and then roll away. I have done it many times without the d/f p... or maybe it means that its guaranteed..

Its not pointless if you can repeat it consistently. I have done similar with Akiras /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif. This sort of thing is interesting enough so that japanese even have a term for it: Uramawari.

Undelayed rising attacks, mid OR low, are safe on block. Delayed rising attacks are punishable. Its however hard to tell which they are just from timing.

(ps. Often its simpler just to jump over though. )
