1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. I put some of my PS2 games in my PS3 the other day, and they didn't look too hot. In fact, they look way better on my PS2.

They looked real grainy. None of 'em looked crisp like they do on my PS2. Not even MGS3, and that one was a big surprise to me.

I've got a component connection running from my PS3 to my tv, and I have all the video settings on my PS3 set correctly too.

Anyone else's PS2 games do this on their PS3?

Yea... sucks don't it. I think some magazine mentioned that PS2
    games weren't 100% compatible with PS3.

Do you have the latest firmware update?

There were some display issues for games using particular interlaced resolutions, but sony fixed those - evo and FFXII look normal now, for instance.

Im wondering that since the Euro PS3 uses software to do the emulation and that this will enable games to be upscaled to 720p+, will the US console eventually handle the games in software? It'd be nice to see a lot of old classics reborn to an extent with less of that gritty, interlaced PS2 look.

As hardware support (EE chip) for next versions of US et JAP PS3 will be removed like the European version in the future, software emulation has to be expected for every location.

The Europeans got SO SCREWED with the PS3. From the fact that they aren't getting the emotion engine, to the part that they are getting charged more than what the Americans and Japanese are getting charged for their PS3's.

MGS3 looks alright. But i'm glad that MGS2 works on it, unlike the european ps3.

Yeah, I bet even now ALL ps3's are going to be starting to be manufactured without the EE. It takes several months for a PS3 to get to NA in particular (since shipped by the ocean mostly), so perhaps now they still have them for a while. So while perhaps the Europeans are getting the short end of the stick for now (with regards to contents) it will even out I think, but I think they always (no matter what system, game, etc) have to pay a higher price than us Americans (again, I'm not saying it is right, just how it is).
