Basara

I have a couple of questions regarding Goh's unique Basara hit-throw:

1. When is it advised to launch the basara?
2. Are there situations where basara is guaranteed (apart from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (MC), or is most likely to hit?
3. Is there any trick when learning to correctly execute the basara that makes life a little less complicated? I seem to have problems inputting the diagonal correction correctly each time. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif for the 2P side is a mean, isn't it, especially right after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif? Do you have any advice how I can increase my basara success percentage on the 1P and 2P side (apart from Dojo mode, etc.)?

 

Pretty sure it's guaranteed if you get a 4,3 P+K sabaki that you started early enough.

 

You can land Basara after wall staggers as well.

 

If you can land Basara, wouldn't it be better to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (high wall splat) combo?

 

Basara's stylish though. Sometimes you just wanna look good.

 

Any updates here? I am looking for uses for the basara.

 

Hmm, for your third question Leonard. You could turn your stick round so that the command you input is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif on the 2P side. Much easier than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif.

 

Think you have to hit P+K right as you hit the diagonal. Time the button press to exactly when the stick hits the diagonal.

Practice it in dojo until you find that perfect timing and you'll get it every time. I never miss it anymore.

 

That 33P combo does less... Basara off a wall stagger from 4K amounts to 96 dmg...

The combo you mentioned is around 80 dmg

 

Unfortunately I don't have any videos of it, but I've been trying to use basara after failed evades. I just delay the basara a split second... it's worked quite well but it's something you can't really throw out more than once per match.

hits works everytime for me actually pretty easy

 

Start doing the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif motion right after hitting all three, and then hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif right after it connects.

 

Yeah, RUSH the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif, do NOT rush the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Sanwa buttons are super sensitive, if you try to hit it AS you hit/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif, it may register as/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, and flub the mekira. ALSo, dont hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif TOO hard, as it will register for too many frames and flub your roll from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I found that I can ALWAYS hit the Basara Mekira bikara if you hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif HALFWAY DOWN. the indara ending/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is WAY easier, and can get off even if you slam the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif 50% moreso than with F/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

 

I played around with this for a while to figure out what is going on. This is what I found:

The second hit of the Basara combo coming out hinges on hitting the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif right as the punch from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is hitting. Therefore, if you buffer the Basara after a move, you have to delay /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif even more to hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as the first punch connects.

If you're throwing it out normally the delay isn't too long, but if you're buffering it in the delay is pretty long and you have to consciously slow down the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif a good amount.

The punch, whichever direction, can be input immediately after the second input and the timing is less strict. You can also spam the last input and the move will still come out.

 

I'm very good at pulling Basara off, but man...it seems really slow sometimes.

Akira's SPOD seems to be much quicker, no?

 

Seems like you have to input SPoD quicker but I could just be tripping.

 

Maybe he means the attack frames?

Both SPoD and Basara are 20...

 

Yeah, I saw that they were the same frames. Basara seems slower to me though, maybe because Akira has so many other quick mids.

 

Just a question though; how is perceived speed relevant to anything?

Besides, both have tons of "quick" mids.

 

The perceived speed matters in that the SPOD inputs have to be much quicker. The Basara inputs are a little slower and require you to hold back and not put the move in at maximum speed. SPOD you have to do as fast as you can.
