    Anyone watched/watching season 1?

I believe the US is currently up to episode 11 (of 13), is that correct? And I understand that the entire season has already aired in the UK?

So before I giving away potential spoilers, I just wanted to know if anyone here was into BSG? I have a crazy theory about the ending that I wanted to discuss /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm liking it. Not sure why the openings are different between the UK and US airings, though.

Is it confirmed? If not, heads will roll.

It is. BG has consistently been in the top-two or -three rated shows on Sci Fi since it premiered.

So is no one else peeved at the last episode? Almost zero closure!

    --- SPOILER ALERT ---

So here's my crazy theory -- Adama is a cylon and that's why Boomer shoots him. Even though Boomer is a cylon, she is siding with the humans even after finally realizing and accepting(?) her reality when she confronted her clones (the power of love, and all that). On her return to Galactica, she takes out Adama as her first course of action for the humans.

Why do I suspect Adama? Well, firstly I think that following out the ancient prophecies to find Earth, while defeating the odd cylon that gets in the way, makes for an obvious (and cliched) storyline, so there ought to be a twist and why not right at the end? Also, there were many mentionings of the fact that sleeper cylons will "come to" when the time is right, and for boomer to "come to" right at the end to shoot Adama is a little too predictable for my tastes. There was one episode where Adama reads a little piece of paper which said something like "there are only 12 models". Where did this paper come from? Was it ever fully explained? Not to mention the fuss with whose blood test would be first, his or Ellen's, for the cylon detector. And what about Ellen? I'll be damned if she's not a cylon!

Anyway, all this to say that, for my mind, there's a certain cloud of suspicion around Adama that I wouldn't be too surprised if he was, in fact, a cylon, and Boomer's assasination attempt was an act for the interests of the humans. Also, a twist like this would be a great way to start the next season!

Any thoughts? Pretty crazy, I know, so forgive the mad musing, but I'm suffering massive withdrawal after the last episode which drove me nuts! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

yea i love this show. it renewed my love for GOOD sci fi shows.

bout adama. i really dont think he's a cylon. He has waaay too much hate for them and also the way he acts with his son is a great show of how unconditional love can be, which no cylon has experienced yet fully.

Even the love that the guy who was left on that planet and the 'other' boomer was just lust after expericening a tragic event (the near destruction of ur species.)

also the history of adama with other crew members would be far too much for a cylon to imitate perfectly.

the only char i really hate and would love to see either die by a million bullets or turn out to be a cylon spy would be the president. No one really knows much about her, and she WAS grilling adama on if he did know the location of mythical earth after the first two pilots.

anyways, does anybody know when the 2nd series is coming out in the UK? at least we get this b4 the americans. yay for the pal regions!

Yeah, I know it's a stretch for CO Adama to be a cylon, but I should have added that the real Adama is probably being held captive somewhere. I didn't mean to imply that Adama has been a cylon all along, because you're right, it wouldn't make sense given his history. I'm thinking it was more of a recent development (which, of course, I can't explain).

The other thing that made me think that was one of the deleted scenes from Episode 109 - Tigh me up, Tigh me down. Click on that link and watch the first deleted scene and you'll see XO Tigh say, "Well, we do know there are cylon agents on the fleet" and then turns his head and stares at Adama. Adama replies, "Yes, we do", and they hold the stare for a while more. If looks could kill!

Anyway, I know it's a stretch and I have a feeling I'm way off base. But some harmless speculation never hurt anyone.. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I read that Season 2 is expected in the Summer (northern hemisphere), so only a few months away? I can't wait!

Only thing about the show I'd wish they would tone down is the religious theme & when they mention god that's fine just as long as it's their Gods not Jesus.

its only a tv show man.............
i personally love how the cylons are trying to get to grips with the creators god. it reflects alot on the relations on this earth between three religions that are similar to each other.
of course it doesnt mean anything but its just a what if kinda situation. dont take it too seriously.

Myke, a question, is that spaceman song on the Ch10 ads the actual theme song for the show, coz it irritates the hell out of me.
Also just out of curiosity, what are those silver robot red eyed things?

Nothing to do with the series. It's just part of Ch10's ad campaign, and yeah it's really annoying.

    Bungle, thanks for the links.

I had heard about the Mormon influence, but not knowing enough about the religion I found these articles really interesting.

I had read somewhere (I think it was in Moore's blog) that there are also some parallels between the cylons and al-qaeda (religious extremists, the suicide bomber scene, etc). I'm not too sure that I appreciate this kind of political commentary/influence thrown into the series, but it has entertained me enough otherwise to want to keep watching to see how it pans out in season 2.

This the only site that I know which has photos of all the episodes of BSG before they are even aired. It seems like they're going to do it again when the second season starts.

I decided to dig this thread up again, seeing as how the series is now over. What were people's thoughts on the ending?

Oh yeah, posted on 21st March 2005, roughly 4 years ago today:

Lol, you also thought Adama was a Cylon too. I actually really liked the ending, some were questions left unanswered? (Where did starbuck go?) What were the Six and Baltar really? Angels? Gods?

No more BSG makes me sad though. But I'm glad it ended before it ends up like those shows that go on forever...

I'm not sure if I'll watch the spin off series though..

could have ended on a much more grandiose scale ending tho.

the part where they end up on the last place and decide to basically forsake everything seemed a bit too far fetched tho.

all in all, the last five minutes save it for me. the flashbacks tbh were not needed.

I quite liked BSG and the ending.

I don't think all questions need to be answered and I think the finale did a good job of tying up all the major plot lines while leaving some interesting stuff unanswered.

I think the end result where the survivors make their clean slate choice is apt and I had no problems with it at all.

There's a lot I could go into but I think they did a great job in wrapping up this series. My only nit pick is the flashbacks. They weren't necessary and barely informed the events of the present time at all. They could have written better, more impactful flashbacks than those that were shown.

I also wished they'd focused more on the head 6 and head baltar more often in the last season so that their role was more meaningful but whatever. Great series and a very good end.
