    Beatem up sumup + suggestions to improve VF6

    Well after playing beat em ups since my childhood I've played almost any beat em up there is. I learned to love VF for it's blancing but got frustrated by the fact that almost nobody plays it. So I've been playing the mayor stuff like DoA 4, SC 4, SF 4 and tekken 5 the past 3 years parallel to VF. So here is my sumup of the characteristic of the games:

    DoA4: Pure midgaming without the need of any other skill. Because everything is reversable.

    SC4: Balancing sux but if you like fighting with weapons the only choice there is, if you don't want to play outdated games.

    SF4: Not many attacks to learn and only a few attacks needed to play the game. Stand at the corner and wait till you win with a timeout or low punch and low kick your opponents to death.

    Tekken 5: You hit your opponent first and never let him stand up again by mashing lows and mids without any real knowledge of your character.

    VF5: Very much to learn. You are forced to play about 1-3 chars if you don't want to play 8H a day. Best balancing but spamming and laming attacks and moves dosn't work cause it is easily punished.

    So my conclusion is why nobody wants to play VF is because the majority wants to win with low effort, with about 5 to 10 attacks and by using the imbalanced stuff they found out. Preferable easy to use infinites where you just need to reapeatedly press 1 button.



    So here are my suggestion to improve VF to make VF6 the most played Beat em up:

    - Reduce it to 2 buttons G isn't needed.

    - Every character has a P K P K P K infinite combo which randomly hits H M or L.

    - Every char gets his move list reduced to any HP any HK any MP any MK any LP any LK. I write any because all old moves are still there, they just get randomly thrown out to make the game look better. Every char has 6 different input methods for attacks: P K 6P 6K 3P 3K.

    - Only one kind of ukemi: standing up.

    - Every attack hits ground and floats.

    - It needs to be very bloody: The weapons you can equip as item, can be used for a very gory ending at the end of the battle.

    - Males can rape the girls after winning the battle and for fairness gals can do the same or cut the males thingy off.

    - Change it to 70% female chars 30% male chars.

    - Females get changable bust size and males can make thair third leg longer.

    - Special effects!!!! explosions!!!!! a lot of them!!!!! And a lot of different blinding colors of course!!!

    - Farting, burping and puking attacks.

    - 6 tounts for every character which make them invincible so they can't be interrupted. 3 of them with foul language.

    Yea, laugh all you want. But in all seriousness, if they actually made a game like that, I guarantee it would sell better in the west than VF5. Sad, but true.

    Im just very frustrated about the fact that there are so many tekken 5 dr online players and SF4 players. You can have 24H matches nonstop. But the gameplay is so god damn lousy. In SF they just wait for you to counter whatever you do and in tekken it's who can best spam 10 hit combos and okizeme you to death. In both games you have very low options to get up from the ground. In tekken they hit you limitles on the ground until you stand up to eat a combo starter. In SF they just shoot at you or wait till you rise to either throw you with a throw that is not escapable or break you out of your backdash or jump since that is the only way you can escape the throw. So there is only a 1 2 option to choose from. Not to mention the horrible balancing between the chars. I really can't understand how people can play those games to a professional level where they are forced to use about 5 chars, cause the rest is so bad compared to those 5 that they are not playable in pro matches. From what I've seen pro SF and tekken players possess very good skills and I bet they would be much happier if they played VF since they could choose any char they like. Most don't even know how deep VF is. They start mashing tekken or laming shotos in SF with friends someday go pro because they stick with the game and don't even consider VF as an alternative. They mostly have the same partiality: The game is too slow when they mostly haven't even played it.....

    Doing threads talking down on games you apparently have very little knowledge of does not do anything good for this site and the community. If people talked the same way about VF on other forums you'd have hissy fits about it, so let's take the high road, mmmmkay?

    Sorry to disappoint you Jeneric but I got enough knowledge about the games. I bought them all and I played them for month 6 to 8h a day. I learned all basics and started playing them like I play all beat em ups with framecharts communicating in forums etc.
    What stopped me from playing them more professional were the main reasons I wrote earlier.

    And I have absolutely no problem with people writing what they dislike about virtua fighter.

    It's just that most ppl don't have the beat'em up gametime/knowlede I have. Cause I'm a professional NEET and spent way too much time with games.

    No, this...

    ...gives away that you lack even basic knowledge about Tekken. 10 hit strings (they're not combos) are seldom used in above beginner level play and the ground game in Tekken actually has quite a lot of depth and options.

    Yes I know that if you play the game enough that you know all the 10 HIT STRINGS you just G until the low attack then press 3 to reversal it. But I would never invest so much time in tekken to learn them all to beat the n00bs so I don't need to use them if I play pro doh!! Sure after you've learned all freaking beginner lame mashing shit and chose one of the top 5 tier chars in tekken you can go pro with GGs in tekken too. And if tekken players are fine with tekken then good for them I ain't.

    As it currently looks I'm probably quitting all beat'em ups soon cause VF is too expensive to play pro and I really hate the alternatives there are.

    My frustration with the fighting games out right now is that is no emphasis on going all out. And by that I mean:

    Full flash
    Full personality
    Full depth

    ATM, current fighting games either miss one or two categories. Even VF with emphasis on depth, but missing everything else. Which is why it isn't as well liked as the others. I mean, let's be honest here: pre-VF5RvB, it was ugly, stiff, the animations were piss poor, when collision happens there is no bone crunching thuds, crumple stuns and sweet animations. It felt like paper dolls fighting. You seriously think that casual gamers are gonna love a fighting game with shitty animations?

    Even I get a headache if I play VF5 for an hour straight. The lack of flash is too much for me.

    This is why there is so much hype surrounding VF5RvB at VFDC - if done right, this could cover all tracks without sacrifices, and at the same time the community grows rapidly. This would put VF on par with the otherr fighting games, and at the same time encourage the other FGs to update, upgrade, and go full force.

    But personally, I don't feel any FG out ATM coming with full force. The only FG that came close to that was DOA3.1. And we all know how much criticism that series has.
