Beginning with Lau

All right here is some of the down and dirty on the old guy. This is to help give ballaballa[/size] some insight into what I see in Lau and I thought it might help some others and myself in learning the man.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is pretty awesome because it's a semi circular move and hits twice AND leaves Lau back turned. In my opinion he has some really strong things he can do from a back turn like:
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - very good
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - fast turn around punch
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - fast turn around kick
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (this is away from Lau's back) - leap away move
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (this is done towards Lau's back) - weird slow powerful rear kickflip
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - donkey kick

Some other devastation moves online (don't abuse too much or you *will* get stuffed)

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - fast lead in kick - if it connects you have a guaranteed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif stomp if you're fast.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - the strange slow brother of the above move. This hits a lot more often than you would think. You can also follow this with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - the first hit *guarantees* this whole combo. Free damage. Learn the timing and use this.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - Learn this. It crumples on a counter hit and you can do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif depending on how fast/good you are.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - Fast elbow with a guaranteed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif if you connect. You might try /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to mix things up.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif- a good old warhorse of a move to launch people into the air and follow with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif for hurt

You cannot forget Lau's throws and some of his best are

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif +/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - you should be able to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after that for nice damage. Probably one of the best throws in terms of ease and damage. If you muff that one you will probably get /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif which are nice enough.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - Learn this. it's a 'done while standing up' throw and it does a ton of damage. Zoom in with a crouch dash and try it if you feel like someone is standing there too long. The move would look like this /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and it should end up doing the throw.

That's most off the top of my head. I'm sure some of the real aces on here can add to this or correct any grievous errors.

Lau is all about hard hurt really fast. You want to keep up the pressure and remember the classics like evading after moves you are crutching such as side kicks: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif then immediately do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif to evade - get that kind of rhythm going in your offense.

You have to remember that Lau is really, really effective against novice and intermediate players but if you crutch all his easy stuff you are setting yourself up for a world of hurt against guys who know their shiz. Learn dodges and offensive moving early. Learn his bounce combos and by all means use his throws.

Best damage off that crumple. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif (79 I think)

I would also throw in Lau's guard break as an important move:
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif -- on hit, follow up with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

 

That crumple combo is my favorite of his. To me, he's worth playing just to do it lol, love the flow of it.

Also, just additional info on the on the gaurd break. The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is only guaranteed if they were blocking. If the gaurd break hits them, then they could very well block the next attack.

 

^ word, forgot to mention that I meant on block. On hit, you're at disadvantage. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

 

Damn Dustin, you and Christian (sp?) are too good with all that fancy stuff. HAHA. I just played with Christian and he was busting that crap out like it was Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif combo. Crazy!

I also have to give him credit on his use of Kokei! He did this set and got me near every time:

That pause between the last /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif was *murdering* me because when it hit he did /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif HAHAHAHAHA Damn! Good games too - he's got a solid Lau and a cracking Jacky.

Ahem - Christian - can you go over the supreme effectiveness of Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif seeing as you were using it like it was going out of style while we played?

I just want to nominate /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as one of those rare moves which can stuff lows and quite a few mid attacks. I cannot say how many times I have had a friend say "Are you kidding me? I just did a mid and you avoided it with *that*?

Also Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif have ridiculous range. Add about 1 foot (30 cm) beyond where you think it should land. I'm serious!

Anyway, I actually don't go into Kokei that way. My most common thing I tend to do is, if I catch someone with CH /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, I continue with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif then end with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Many times people will try to counterhit me to interupt and that only leads to a massive string of damage lol.

On that third hit while in stance, off of the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, it is murder thanks to being able to delay it, and the nasty knockdown it has. Problem is it's risky haha. The second and third hits can be sidestepped, but it's kind of a strict time frame and you can dictate when they can do it. If you go through with it on blocked, you are set to disadvantage. So I got to really watch using it now haha.

I'm very "Abare" style in the way I play nearly all my characters, so I'm apprehensive on describing moves and teaching lol. I'm not really gona post too much on the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) for now, because I forgot where I saw the frames on it for Version C. But basically, if you know you're opponent is going to use a low attack, or a low getup attack, this move is ideal. If the first hit lands, the second is guaranteed and creates a small stagger, giving the Lau player many options from there. On block, the second kick can be ducked, as it is a high kick. The move is great from a distance too, and can bait people into attacking if you simply perform the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from a safe distance. I'll try to research more later and give better info on it lol.

 

I'm abare too brother, it's a legit play style. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Looking forward to playing you a lil' Eileen v. Lau or Lau v. Lau! Early next week...

 

Anything execution wise I should know about this one? It's just a full crouch move to start, but since he has a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif move, can I input this as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and get the same result?

 

I had trouble with the execution on that combo for awhlie, but TX Lion and Dissmaster helped me out. You can simply do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif after the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to buffer in the next /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Or as SweepTheLeg has it noted /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif which is actually what I do when I think about it lol.

 

All right I'll give it a shot. Been thinking about picking up someone besides Jacky, and his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is just too nasty.

In version C the Kokei /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif will launch someone on a counter hit. This guy does a dash in for some extra damage. I believe his full move is

  Be ready to mix this up, the 8kk stun isn't hard to shake at all. Gotten bad habits from playin too many people online that just don't stun shake.

 

Very true. I never did a whole lot with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif except run in and throw while the opponent is shaking it off. Happy Friend would consistently hit me because when /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif hits most people know it's an easy shake and immediately go for some really fast nonsense to punish Lau. This is where the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is a nice little surprise for the smarties who think they got Lau dead to rights.

Definitely mix it up and your mileage will vary.
