BEST fighting game in history? Gee, uhh I don't know. Somehow I'm drawing a blank.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers that game! The only machine Ive come across so far to play with dual sticks (I maybe wrong but I'm only stating from personal experience). Classic till the very end for me!

Not being funny, but the moment games brought in the combo system, unless you took the time personally to know the ins and outs of the game, a lot of them do have a button mashing factor to them. Killer Instinct, MK3, X-Men vs Street fighter etc. The community would still be great and you would still get some kicks and laughs, but you couldn't choose your competition so it came down to the individual playing the game. (A "player skill" roulette if you like!)


AS for me though? I know some may disagree with me on this, but I would have to say Tekken 3. The hours and money I invested into that machine (as well as taking other people's ), I can't even begin to count them!

^THIS! I challenge you to find another game with such balance, unfriendliness to button-mashers and risk/reward system. Well, I'll also say DiveKick looks pretty good.

I, for one, would like to see this thread on SRK. That would be amazing!

 

I'd say for 2D it's The King of Fighters 98 or Fatal Fury Special(I LOVE SNK)to me, but Street Fighter is by far more popular. 3D it's Virtua Fighter hands down! I really think you need to separate 2D & 3D because it's way too different. Apples to Oranges or something like that...

 

none of these things are required to have a good fighting game.

i used to think it was tekken 5 DR, but now its FS for me. hands down one of the best games i played in a long time in terms of depth.

 

Its all in fun. The hilarious thing is this topic gets introduced at least twice per version of VF on this site

Anyway I think its a 2 way tie between VF4 EVO and VF5FS
