Better or worse?

Alright, Prototype #2! Or maybe more like Prototype #1.5. Anyway, I made a few important but seemingly cosmetic changes to the previous designs. Lemme know what you think of this one:

As promised, there is now a much bigger window for the main text (about 590 pixels wide) and the whole site itself is fixed at 770 pixels wide.

 

In terms of menu details, here's what I have in mind:

- The "virtuafighter x" links will be rollovers. Basically the "x" number will jump out at you with maybe a bit of animation and perhaps with a different color. It'll be subtle but cool.

- I will probably have little arrow buttons (i.e. arrow in a circle a la some of the old directional images used in old VF sites for). -> To indicate subcategory and a down arrow to indicate collapsed subcategory. These arrow buttons will be fixed images and the actual links will be plain text (with mouseover color change).

- The last set of sub menus will just be plain text links with mouseover color change.

- In the horizontal bar I will have an image + text in a similar vein as to the one used in the present design and in Guard Impact. These will be fixed images and will be quite small.

My only comment is that I think you should move the side bar down to line up with the VFDC title bar.

What if we had a logo of sorts in the top left?

I like the look, but I think you want to avoid the blocks of white space at top and bottom left.

 

I agree with Llanfair and Jan. Too much white space is killing it for me. My preference:

Jeff,

In my browser window (800x600 resolution maximized) I get a horizontal scrolling bar. Not a large one maybe about 15 pixels wide, but it's there.
