Big stick problems

First I have to say that this is my first post, so if I completely mess it up, please don't virtually kill me for it.

I've been a decent Akira pad-player since I got my Hori Fighting Stick II last week. For some really damaging combos it's necessary to get a stick for Akira since crouch dashing really sucks with a pad. Now (with the stick) I became a worse player since I am not able to do the easiest commands. [1][3][7][9] are very difficult to perform so that crouch dashing seems even harder to do than before. When I play as player 2 (standing right) I don't achieve anything. Probably I don't hold the stick properly. Did u have the same problems or am I lost already? What could I do? How do u hold your stick?

    Thanks for reading my post.

everyone has probs with stick to begin with, some people have probs hitting diags, it comes with practice though, there's a distinct diff in player 1 and player 2 play, make sure you get both down or you'll get screwed, hand pos is whatever feels comfortable and gets the job done
my advice: stick with it, study, practice practice practice and more practice

I've been practicing for nearly a week by now and I don't get any better. It starts making me angry. Basically, is it better to hold the stick all the time (like a real joystick), or would u prefer just to tap it?

hold all the time, and I don't mean "a week of practice", it took me about 3 months before I had felt comfortable with the stick and that was solely on the 1p side, then I had to adapt to the 2p side, just be patient, enjoy the game, and get better.

Mokochun , it took me a month of plaing on stick, before I could do the things I've don with pad. It was hard at the beginnig, but worth of practicing. Now buffering Dbpm is much easier, Knee- eweryone can do it on stich /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have had a stick for about 6 months, and can only just say that I am as good now as I was on a pad.

    KEEP PLAYING.

Also, to make sure you get the hang of 2p side, switch the stick to port two every other time you play, so you rotate which side you start at, and get used to both sides.
Also, do fall into the trap which I found myself doing, which was looking for ways to switch backto 1P side using throws and side switching moves. Just keep trying and it will come....
