It is true.. I utilized the principles of both it, and in general those related to budo since VF3..

Another VERY good read that I recommend to those interested, is
Karyn turner: secrets of championship Karate. There is a lot about mental aspects of competing in Karate (emphasis in competing) in the book and those things can be applied to fighting games as well.

ps. I dont practise karate, but I still consider this book extremely good read for the most part. Ive loaned it several times from a library.

 

Shssh! Keep that on the down low. Miyamoto's techniques are part of my secret. If too many people read the 5 Rings they will have figured my entire con game

 

Miyamoto was basically the master of the psyche out move. He's like that kid on the basketball court who always manages to shake you up before you even start playing. Then proceeds to wipe the floor with you.

I would also recommend reading "the art of no sword".
