Often, in the middle of a thread (general or otherwise) people cite books they are reading. I am always on the look out for something new and something I might not otherwise consider.

Post up what you're reading currently and let your fellow VFDCers get entertained and educated.

I have two on the go at the moment as I've just finished reading Stephen King's Cell

    Timothy Findley's "Pilgrim"
Gabriel Garcia Marquez "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

This is my third crack at Pilgrim and I'm finally going to finish. Normally I quite dig Timothy Findley but this was a hard nut.

I've read One Hundred Years of Solitude before in University but I turned my wife onto it and after she finished and quite enjoyed it I found I wanted to re-visit it. Great book!

If this is by Jeremey Clarkson, I'd probably enjoy it.

just finished "A Riot of Our Own", about a few years on the road w/ the Clash, by their old road manager. lot of fun if you like the band.

before that, Caleb Carr's "The Italian Secretary". he has yet to re-capture the magic of "The Alienist" to me, and this one (a Sherlock Holmes story), starts off great, but seems like he literally got totally bored at the end, and just wanted to finish the thing in 20 pages.

I gave my mother "100 Years of Solitude" a while back, always wanted to read it, as I heard it's one of the best books ever written.

Reading Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand. Pretty good read with some astonishingly (two exclams!!) lyrical passages for a work of non fiction.

That man is capable of weaving so many plotlines together and keeping it all consistent it's rather mindboggling really. In the end they're still light reading though. Robert Ludlum trusted this guy to continue the Bourne saga for him, shows the respect he gets from others in the trade I'd say. Avoid that fantasy saga of his like the plague though (no not you).

And I've started reading Pita Ten again yesterday...
Yeah, yeah, got all eight for 4 bucks a piece on a sale.
It's actually pretty funny stuff. I wouldn't have paid much more for it though.

Finished 100 Years of Solitude. It really is a fantastic book and I was glad I re-visited it over the Christmas holidays.

I have Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash waiting. I read Cryptonomicom years ago (way back in the VF3 days) and enjoyed it.

Man, I used to devour Sherlock Holmes stories. Even the ones where he fought Dracula were cool. The rushed ending is too bad but I may check it out anyway.

Kinda spooky as I was just about to post that I've just started this and it seems not bad so far.

It was refrenced a teensy bit in Dean Takahashi's XBox 360: Uncloaked which I just finished. I liked the sound of it so decided to check it out and skip it to the front of my to read pile.

i think i may have talked about snow crash with you before, but either way you can save yourself from dealing with some unbelievably pretentious garbage by not reading it.

also please burn that copy of yours. i do not care if you don't actually own it, just do it! BURN IT!
