    Hi All,

I just need to vent some frustration about one topic that has been bothering me for a long time.

OK, I was born In Italy and raised as a Christian. That means I am used to churches and confessions and stuff. Boring old shit if you ask me.

It really gets me when people who grew up not giving a fuck, doing drugs, dealing, pimping, doing jail time, beating people up or worse, suddenly find JESUS CHRIST and start preaching to people like me who didn't do fuck all and therefore have nothing to worry about. PLEASE B.A.C. shut the fuck up because if you fucked up your life and now you are old an wise and you feel sorry about it, that's nothing to do with the rest of us who didn't Pimp,Kill, etc. If you are so sorry, instead of preaching, just come around and do some nice stuff for me, bake a cake or shit, cause I don't need no preaching. RANT OVER>

He just pointed you towards three movies:
    Jesus Camp (2006)
The Trials of Ted Haggard (2009)
    Religulous (2008)

I have watched only the latter one and liked it very much. I'm as atheist as one can be if that changes anything. I guess I'll watch the other two as well. Thanks.

As for the topic. I agree that people should be given the chance to correct their mistakes. Whether it's because of a religion or just a change of heart, it doesn't matter.
For me though, if you fuck up big time and want to change, just like You said Matt, don't fucking tell me what to do.
If I live my life quite well, without doing anything wrong to others, don't try to patronize me, or preach me!
I'd understand if such person told me "Hey, I know how it is, don't do it, you'll regret that later". OK, now you're speaking from experience. But that's it, that's where the line is drawn. Don't cross it.

I find them very annoying. I find that a lot of them are some fine ass females that I wish I knew back when they were still in their "bad" phase. Oh the humanity of it all.

It's like they forget everyone wasn't doing fucked up shit like they were b4 they were "saved".

Them being saved is like I am already, but to them it's some big revelation. GTFO SOO annoying.

I'm a plain old christian so i have nothing against religion as a whole, just zealots. I Fuckign hate zealots.

Yummie? I dunno, but weed and churches have a lot in common.
A lot of people gather, all of them dressed funny.
You light weed on fire, or a church, and then it's all pure fun /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

People make mistakes, that's life, No one is perfect. Not everyone grew up with religion in their lives or a positive environment to begin with. I know a few folks that been in the system becoming, Five percenters, Muslim and Christian. More or less they were "Saved" as some religious folks put it. "God" gives second chances too, you know.

I don't have a problem with people changing for the better and finding a reason or new path in life. I think it's great.

It becomes faulty when they feel entitled to suddenly preach even though they've just started learning about the faith. There are those who have dedicated their lives studying the scriptures and most of them aren't the ones who annoy people on the streets and subways.

I understand that they feel that they have to share their new found understanding of life. But I think they'll get their point across much better through their actions instead of their words.

    Just my two cents.

Haha, I feel that way too. In fact I'm dating a VERY pretty girl who happens to be Christian and goes to church every weekend. Tough one /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif I used to be Christian myself, raised in a catholic school and everything, but nowadays I'm an atheist. I just believe in karma, at most.

I understand the sentiment, my problem with areligious people is that they extend the annoyance to anyone who is motivated by religion and expresses that openly.
    You're a retard.

People finding a better way to live doesn't bother me really. I may think that they are misguided or believe in something I don't but I'm not going to hold wanting to be a better person up as bad.

What is REALLY BAD, is charlatans like Ted Haggart or self loathers like Larry Craig who espouse ultra-conservative, bigotry while doing crystal meth and gay guys in airport bathrooms.

Then, when I guy like Ted Haggart gets exposed as a giant, charlatan fake, the people who follow him tell themselves the "the devil made him do it." <--- Are we really THAT immature??? That's pretty scary!

There is something about religion, but even more so about evangelical Christianity in general, where you believe in something no one can/could/will ever prove and just shut down and deny everything else. It's programmed into the religion to teach people that set of values and, simultaneously, tell them learning about or even listening to anything to the contrary is sacrilege.

It's a way of programming people to do what you teach and just blindly deny everything else, without even bothering to spend two minutes learning anything about it. The creators of this brand of Christianity (the "god is American" evangelical BS crap we have in the US) obviously knew knowledge is power and that knowledge is VERY DANGEROUS to this blinded way of thinking.

They want people to stay stupid and uninformed because they are so much easier to control that way.

excuse me? how. My problem is with people who don't just express distaste with overzealous people but with anyone or anything religious.

Then griever says burning down churches is fun, I call him a retard. How did I constradict myself. If anything I repeated myself in other words, I do not like it when people have such hatefull thoughts against religion.

    Tony, shut the fuck up.

That annoys me too. The motivation isn't really a problem, it's what comes out of it. I listened to some of the preachers on the subway. Most of the time they even contradict themselves during their speech. They tend to be very defensive too and overreact to a slight hint of dissent.

Also sometimes, some pick on individuals who seem to fit a characteristic that they deem "evil." It's annoying and makes me sad at the same time. I don't even bother to talk to them since I'm sure I'll just be attacked for being a heathen. Even though I'm just willing to help them. Since, most of them I feel misunderstand scriptures that they quote.
