BT-delay-Flipkick?

    Sounds weird? I thought so.

Anyway, it was another night of challenge sprees @ SG Bugis; since Danny wasn't around to hog a machine it was somewhat more enjoyable (sorry Danny ... I know you love SPODing and TFTing the rest of us around, but give us a break!).

Thing is: It was my Kage against a Jacky, I was ahead in health and it was deciding round so both sides were backdashing and playing chicken.

I did /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to BT (no stance) to provoke/lure him, remained BT (no stances) and did absolutely NOTHING for about 1-2 seconds (stick at neutral, no buttons pressed). Jacky sidestepped around during that interval a bit (but was too far away to change the situation to sideturn ...) then closed in. Only then I hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif toward's Jacky's direction ... and out comes the flipkick from backturned (pasted Jacky against the nearby wall, but that's beside the point.)

AFAI understand, Kage's BT-Flipkick must be buffered in (learned the trick in VF4FT from zach, SG's local Kage specialist, plus others who played Kage seriously in SG) during the move to BT. Since I remained in BT for over a second doing nothing, the above *shouldn't* be possible or ... did I miss something?

Sorry if it sounds like a phony post; I couldn't believe it myself when I saw the flipkick come out, and turned around in confusion to ask zach (but he was probably more interested in watch Louis' Lei-Fei owning someone else on the other machine).

Did it hit your opponent the way BT buffered /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif does? If not, my guess is that you did the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (non BT) move but since you are BT, it looked like the flip from BT.

You might be right ... but do you have any idea what caused it?

Is it because I didn't do anything at all that caused the VF5 machine to regard Kage as still facing forward (although BT WRT Jacky) hence allowing the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to come out? I don't think Jacky's sidestepping was part of the issue, but I could be wrong.

It would be a lot more enlightening if the move can be replicated and studied by the serious Kages ... but that's entirely up to the rest of you. Anyway I really don't see how it can be useful except as a surprise move so this might just as well be considered a glitch. I'm more worried that my eyes were playing tricks on me.

As you (should) know, Kage has two variants of the flip kick from BT.

BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif in the direction of Kage's back) remains BT, gives adv on guard.
BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif in the direction of Kage's front) turns around, disadv on guard.

Are you 100% certain as to which one you did?

The BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is said to be buffered, but theoretically it doesn't have to be. If you try to input it while idle (i.e. not buffered), the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif command if registered for a mere frame too soon, will cause you to turn around to face the opponent. You can't guarantee to input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif on the very same frame (it's very difficult), so that's why it is suggested that you should buffer it.

The BT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif doesn't suffer from this input risk. Entering /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif a frame too soon might cause you to ARM for a frame, but you still remain BT. So that's why you don't need to buffer this particular command.

I honestly have no idea which version of the flipkick I did; I was so stunned by the unexpected move all I could think of was how in the world did it happen.

So, either I did the usual disadvantaged flipkick or I did the advantaged flipkick by sheer luck. It *might* be I got the advantaged kickflip, but since it's one-in-a-million chance I got the timing right, I'm not going to bet a cent on it.

    Thanks for the insight, Myke.
