Last Friday at our regular VF night, my friend told us of a new bug that has been discovered in Japan. Apparently it works both in the Arcade and PS2. When it occurs, it basically lets you cancel any single move over and over again. First, watch the movies to see it in action:

    pai_bug.wmv (7MB, WMV8)
    goh_bug.wmv (6MB, WMV8)

Now, this bug only works against Akira and is triggered during a guaranteed DbPm (during a recovery situation for example, or ST combo). So far, we only know how to do it with Pai and Goh, but I think it's possible for other characters too.

Anyway, right after the DbPm hits you need to input Pai's or Goh's trip ([8] or [2][P]+[K] for Pai, [8] or [2][K]+[G] for Goh) like a frame or two after the hit. Then, simply attack Akira with a canned combo (i.e. something with 2 hits) then immediately cancel after the first hit with any attack. Then, keep cancelling that attack with itself over and over again.

It was funny when Pai was doing her aerial kick helicopter style. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif I wonder if there are any other cancellable moves that keep your player perpetually airborne. I would like to see someone do this trick with Kage's [6][2][3][P]+[K], and his [7][K]+[G](not to mention that I would think that Akira doing his [6][6][K] over and over wouldn't look half bad when cancelled).

Cool glitch. It seems you can save the glitch part for as long as you don't get hit by any attack or throw, or whiff a move. You can block for as long as you like, then as soon as you're ready, bust out with the glitch. I'm sure people will find a ton of uses for this bug, esp. the fast continues hit combos that you can do over and over. Well, as long as people do Akiras combo to let them do the bug.

Oh and Myke, you have to input the trip before the DbPm connects, not after. It took me awhile to figure out why it wasn't working doing it after. So it's after the SinglePm and right before the DbPm.

This is pretty amusing stuff. Behold, the amazing flying Pai!

It also reminds me in some ways of the VF4 Ver.B Aoi bug, which involved a lot of rapid move-cancelling as well. I think that one was a bit more effective in actually dealing damage, though.

Yes /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif, but that one required stricter situations to be pulled off... This one is just after your everyday st combo!

1/60 has more details on this bug.

So it looks like it works in any minor (recovery) counter hit situation, and the trip command is entered after the hit. The movie on 1/60 demonstrates the bug with Pai vs Pai. 1P whiffs a [P], 2P mC's with a [P] and 1P enters the trip command. The frame chart has 1P and 2P mixed up I believe, but if you watch the movie then you can follow the inputs.

    ERRRRR?? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Matrix anyone?

How on earth do bugs like this make it into the game and how do people know how to do them or work them out? Very funny and bizarre but could it ever be put to real use?

i think there is a bug that akira has

[6][6][P],(mysterious counterattack interuption) [4][6][6][P]+[K] =-=- after the [6][6][P] hits the opponent, (and the opponent tries to counterattack)---and you immediately do the body check, you can rip right through him/her. you end up on the other side, and your opponent floats really high. i am still unsure what kind of counterattack the victim must perform after [6][6][P] to trigger this bug.

Did you really have to bounce up an old thread just to say that.

he seems new and seems enthusiastic about VF as we all are when we first start. Dont discourage him. Anyone could've said that when that thread was still valid, and it's not completely dead thread. Imo, this is why VFDC is known as noob-killer site. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
