1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Building a Joystick for VF4/VF4evo...Questions???

Alrighty, I am convinced I can build myself a nice pair of joysticks for usage with VF4/Evo on PS2 for cheaper than I could buy Mas, Hori, or similar sticks.

I have looked around in google and such for some information, but some I cannot find.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. Does anyone have a schematic drawing of the Joystick and Pushbuttons layouts of the Japanese arcade machines that you could e-mail me or point me toward?

I'm trying to figure out exactly how far away from the joystick center each button is and the various degree of cuts in relation to the center as well for each pushbutton.

    2. Does anyone know a site or shop in the U.S. that sells Convex pushbuttons and either Japanese or Korean sticks?

    3. For whomever may have made their PS2 joystick. What controller did you buy to gut and use?

I'm wanting one with some good size contacts for my intermediate soldering skills.

    Thanks to whomever helps out.

    Here are some links

This site shows you how to take a basic console controller and remove the board and solder it to a custom model "arcade stick"

Where to buy sticks and buttons in America. Unfortunately, they dont sell "Japenese" Sticks. I'm not too sure where to get them, I think the company is Sanwa or Sanva

check the console forum, there is like a 30 page thread about joysticks, and a good deal of the later posts deal with making your own, yeah the company is called Sanwa in japan, and the shipping is a bastard but the parts are cheap enough. Expect to pay like 60 for parts if you're making 2 sticks. Happ isn't bad, but I've had issues with their convex buttons dying on me at random which made me pretty angry.

How did your convex buttons die and how long did they last for EmX?

They just started going out at random (work for a while then stop) after about 3 months of use, very annoying.
