You should stay away from the L, I think. There's tons of better
Shun stradegies than that after any combo, namely drinking or
setting up the opp. when they get up. I can't think of a single
situation where the L-shape would be viable against anyone, mashers
    or not.

The L ([4_][K]+[G]) is best used when your oppoenent is TR'ing.
EVO's got some great follow-ups from it. Ver. C is relatively limited.

Boo! People, what's going on? Everyone failed miserably at answering the question.

Firstly, the L-shaped attack (don't ask me why it's called that) is not the [4_][K]+[G] that GaijinPunch mentions.

If you had checked Shun's Command List you would have known what the L-shaped attack was and might have been able to answer the question asked.

The simple answer is no: you cannot combo into it unless you know of a way to float your opponent while you are back turned. (BT) [P]+[K]+[G] starts the L-shaped series off, with [P] and [P][P] as followups. If you have 10 drink pts or more when the last [P] connects you get a funky auto-throw.

Check the command list for hit levels and other data. It's not air-combo material that's for sure. It's just a way of pressuring your opponent with a canned combo while your back is turned.

Who the fuck names these moves? I thought mule-kick would top them all off, but L-shaped...that's got to take the cake.

I thought you guys gave em the names... /versus/images/icons/confused.gif /versus/images/icons/ooo.gif /versus/images/icons/confused.gif u see sensei GP you need to leave that Aoi chick alone and
become the drunken GP (and make me a FAQ with all of your Shun Di knowledge) /versus/images/icons/grin.gif /versus/images/icons/grin.gif /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

I've no played Version C for months, so likely couldn't write a faq for Shun worth a turd right now, or anyone else for Ver. C. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

LOL, well, in this case I think it was GLC who wrote the first VF4 faq/movelist. It's been used (in movelists anyway) ever since. If someone comes up with a better alternative, or a direct translation of the real name if it makes sense, then I'll be happy to update it.

But come on, what's wrong with mule-kick? Makes perfect sense to me anyway.

Actually I like "L-Shaped Attack"...it's better than calling it
"Slow-Ass Attack" or "Get Embarrrassed Attack". Seriously,
the L-Shape is almost useless; if back-turned, go for the big K and
the cool drunken stumbling afterward. Or the low K which will upend
    on counter, I believe.

Hey, I didn't come up with L-shaped attack ;P And the mule kick has been around since VF2. In other words, find something else to complain about... and leave the move names alone. Alone!

Well, their aren't that many moves that would make sense translated. Anyone that's watched Ranma can attest. English is just too different from the asian langauges that have the luxury of a hierogliphic (man, I know I spelt dat one wrong!) alphabet to make any sense out of it.

    I still don't see how it looks like an L though. Maybe a lower-cased 'r'. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

as useless as that move is i try and pull it off all the time! it's so awesome looking but i can't always get that auto-throw at the end, you sure you only need 10dp? Also does anyone do the canned double elbow off the [2_][P]+[K]+[G]? what's a good situation for the back throw?
