1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Can someone give me the low down on online lag?

Hey guys, I'm really looking forward to getting into VF5, but online would probably be my only real venue of competition since no one in my area plays VF at all. Because of that, it is very important to me that the online play runs pretty smooth. Having played Tekken 5 online as well as Smash Bros Brawl, I have my worries. To be honest, I may not get VF5 if the online is atrocious like it is for those games.

Can someone fill me in on what to expect? I live in New Jersey and have a DSL broadband connection. How would it play for someone close to me, and how bad will get it when I go further west, or to different countries?

    Thanks guys

From my experience the online has been pretty good (especially compared to Super Smash Brawl). I've only had the rare match where the lag so bad that the characters had 3 second delays. If you can find someone with a green bar connection you'll have some great matches ya know?

I haven't tried many fighting games online. And before starting VF5, i was kinda scared : beat'em up aren't games that you can play with lag. And now, i'm really impressed especially after trying SCalibur4 online. The game runs *really* smoothly. It's most of the time just as you're having local plays. Well I've actualmy played locally and it isn't any more smooth.
So as long as you aren't facing grey bar players, it will be perfect.

The experience should be appreciated and enjoyed. Sure, sometimes it turns a -12 from move on block (gauranteed throw moves) into a non garaunteed throw move. It sucks when ur on the business end of this situation. But really, players without access to a large offline communitey, such as my bro and i, can only thankk or lucky stars online lay exists. I love it. It is fantastic. And i have already played over 300 hours of online play. this is 300 hours that would not have been played without it. It is an awesome experience to be able to turn on and play people from all over the country (world not so much because of lag). Enjoy
