Original idea provided by @Stl_Tim :

Good to point out faults in our scene, but I also think that even if you remotely play, love, or talk more than an hour about vf than search for a solution.

Having said that, here is what I propose as a educational experience to improve vf knowledge for all as a whole.

1.Host a weekly show where you have one star player guest who is efficient in their character.
This person acts as the dojo master and follows a format that can be Easily understood by all.

2.Then there is the host and maybe one other personality to add a lighthearted appeal to bounce off one another.

    3. Next is everyone else who is the students who can follow along at home in dojo mode. The format will cover a solid and decent amount of information that can be applied to set a standard.

    4. Time could be utilized effectively until the end and leave that for q&a.

Hardest part is getting the show to stay focused w/o going to deep off the course.

If that would work we could set up some extra shows based on core fundamentals.

    Whatcha think??

Possible people to beta test this with could be:

    Host-Blitzball
    Kagemaru-Jami San
Co host-Hayato, Blackstar, or Shinybrentford if he is alive?!

Anyone interested please pm or contact blitz.

I have posted a poll for the potential Vanessa players requested that would be a great fit to lead these sessions. Please take the time to vote for your top pick. The choices for this poll are @MakiLeSushi , @KADAJ757 , @leftylizard , @Chefboy_OB , @MarlyJay , and @erdraug . if you have any other Vanessa players that you can think of, please post them in this thread as well and I will count them as a vote. If anyone has any questions or any kind of feedback, please share. Thank you very much!

From my part i would say that cheffy got the best understanding of this char, he s the one who made me realize how important it is to know DS vanessa coz in the beginning i played only OS vaney

As DS and OS are actually two separate characters, this could be done by twice with two people. Otherwise it'll be twice as long

    Voted for MarlyJay.

I only have some amount of playtime (online) vs Marly, Maki and Cheffy the two times randomly in ranked. id go for any of the three, but since i have statistical empirical evidence only about MarlyJay and Maki as far as giving pointers/giving feedback, and moreso from Marly Then Maki (sorry) it was what i could vote for.

    ---

Another thing i like to consider when voting is if i know that this is a person with the patience and emotional strenght enough to actually try to teach, rather then condemn/ridicule or suspect the people they play.

Like, the difference between: "sorry u sucked, why did you try to xxx in this situation? consider xxx and when i xxx you seemed to thing yyy was a sensible response, its not"

    and:

"lol u stupid laggy cheater i pown ur ass too easily, cus i do. and when i dont its cus reasons. id never lose to anyone if the moon and ping and stars was aligned. go to hell i hate u"

Imo it s two character but in one, a real master of his char should know both, like somehow sarah and her fl stance

Doesn't change the fact that though she takes up one slot on the selection screen it's two characters and for Vanessa this will take twice as long. Should it be split into two? How long are this vids gonna be?

Bit off topic but you really don't need to know both DS and OS anymore. It's a shame she was dumbed down so much from Vanilla where you needed both because all the best combos changed stance.

Well i disagree marly, something which is more on topic, a person who use only one stance won t be able to say in which case to switch stance. And yes it changes something if she takes one slot on selection screen, u are able to switch stance anytime and imo that is the most important particularity of the char

But these videos aren't about how to use Vanessa, but instead how to fight Vanessa. And i'm guessing these are more targeted at beginners too. When to switch isn't actually relevant, this isn't just going to be about how to fight each stance and it's going to have to be done twice either way, because how you fight DS and OS is completely different. They're basically polar opposites.

Vanessa can't switch on the fly or mid combo in this game in a way that isn't obvious either, so from the point of view of fighting her the two are completely separate now. Just showing how to recognise which Vanessa you're fighting will be enough.

The only thing that's particularly relevant in both stances is when she's knocked down in certain situations she can go into intercept position.

Basically it s the same, i mean if in some situation it s better to switch stance as a vanessa player, so as vanessa opponent u have to be aware of it too, and i guess it is relevant, a round can be changed about leading just because the stance have been switched, And u re wrong marly, vanessa can change stance in a mid of the combo, there s a lot of combos where both stance are used. But once again it s just a different pov and i understand yours, it s just, i think when u don t know how to deal with her, recognize her stance (by the voice /sound, move or intercept position) and in which situation to expect a switch stance is important. For me it s even the beginning of learning her how to fight, then u can focus on particularity of each stances. A confirmed player and a "professionnal" are already aware of it.

I would choose between maki and marly. Marly is great player in general and has great knowledge of the game , better than most of us in Europe. But since i played maki more i have to choose Maki, maki dedicated infinite time with vanessa and i think he knows vanessa's tech more than anyone on vfdc. I havent played FS for a long time tho. i dont know the proggression of the others vanessa players so i choose maki!!

I fear that I'm disqualified as I don't currently have a console (my xbox and TV are in France while I work in the UK) :( Thank you for considering me, it's an honor.

I'm voting for @MarlyJay since I remember watching him competently cast a VF tournament (alongside Jide, if i remember correctly) so we already know the UK community endorses him behind a mic :)

If we were allowed to propose someone not on the list I could easily recommend @kingo since a lot (most?) of his sparring partners (Chiitox, GFA, myself and, online, Maki) play Vanessa; meaning he has a ton of experience playing against her, while still being an outsider. Thus he could emphasize things to watch out for, common setups, weaknesses etc. without slipping unconsciously into advice on how to actually PLAY this particular character. However I understand that a foreign accent might not be desirable if these videos are to have a wide appeal for newcomers. If they prove successful, maybe consider him for a second round?

U point out something interesting about not being a char player erdraug but more a char opponent. Everyone feeling hiself more comfortable vs specific char coz he knows the mu by heart. No one noticed it...

@MakiLeSushi wins this poll. He is #1 draft pick, but honestly, I think everyone on this list can fit the bill as well! Please reach out to myself or @Stl_Tim about your availability. Thanks a bunch!
