Character. . . what character?

Yo,
I have just started Virtua Fighter 4($4.98 at Wal-Mart discount bin!!!), and was wondering, who should I pick if I want a pretty fast, countering character with average to slightly below average damage. I was thinking Aoi or Jacky, but I would really like to use Jacky or Lion! Any help would be appreciated. . .

Either Aoi or Pai. Don't go with Jacky!

 

I play Aoi and I don't recommend her for a first character. Play either Pai or Jacky since they have less complicated techniques. My friend started with Pai and I with Aoi. It took a loong time before I started kicking his butt /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

 

Lino, he fits your description well and if you really want play him why chose someone else?

I started using lion, and am KILLING my six year old brother. He uses the "fat guy" as he puts it(Jeffery). I also kill my eleven year old brother. He likes to use Jacky(that auto punch catch really sucks though). My dad and grandpa like to play, though. My Grandpa ROCKS with Shun Di(coincidence? I think not. . .) and my dad SUCKS with Sarah("I'll pick that hot chick!") My uncle is okay at it, he only loses against me and Grandpa. BTW my six year old brother can kick my dad's ass(lol). I'm homeschooled, so I don't get out much to invite people over to play, so i'm not terribly good at VF4. I really never play kumite or arcade, so I see no reason to use my memory card, so my Lion dosen't have a ring name. oh, well. . .

Woo yeah, another lion player. btw, play kumite, it rocks. items, ranks, ai's, they all keep you hooked on the game.

 

lion rocks. i do best with him, though it might be because i use him mostly. on my second day of having vf4 i defeating 1st dan/kyu characters without having to think much, just fighting instinctively. his moves are much improved since 2, but i don't like his voice and hairstyle. and he's moves back and forth well, not to mention those ultra quick evades

 

lion's evade sucks.

 

Use one of the four begginers.(Jacky Pai Sarah or Lei Fei) Altough Lei Fei is really good for experienced players. I used Jacky

 

Yeah, his evade attack does suck. Instead I use +, and have a guessing game of attack and throw. Doesn't work quite well against the CPU though.

 

Yeah they should have a Lion mute option. Or at least make him speak french.

 

The only thing about Lion that sucks is the fact that they got Don Knotts to do his voice work. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

If you don't know who Don Knotts is, then look him up or watch old episodes of Mayberry where he played Deputy Barney Fife.

In my opinion one of the most important things in video games and definite in fighting games is to like your character, to like his style, what he is wearing, his art to feel good when he is doing something good. I play with Aoi because i like the way she is dancing, the superb reversal's and all that she is. Find what you like and dont care about the win. All the characters in vf4 are good its just some of them need more time like akira, shun and some are easy win like jacky. Find what YOU like.
