today I went to Sega world at Akihabra and there was a guy who played with lion and had a empire rating. his lion skills were really unreal. I do not know if it was him, because his name was written in japanese. he had 1 item ( looked like a pocketknife ) under his japanese name. and his lion had a sunglass with skelleton earings. but if it was him I was honored to get my ass kicked by him. can please somebody comfirm if it was really him

Chibita has kind of shaggy reddish-brown hair. He seems to be fond of leopard patterns (wallet, jacket hood). Did you happen to notice this guy's win/loss stats/percentage? Last movies I saw showed him at 12,000 wins, 950 losses (about) and 91-92% win ratio.

Chibita's Lion generally has silver hair, although the costumes & everything else change. Chibita himself is a rather small guy, but doesn't mind chatting, even to Gaijin such as myself.

Last I checked, he was a Raijin (Thunder God), and nobody has a REAL ranking of Emperor yet -- only fakes, who work in game centers, and make a bunch of fake cards.

    Here's Chibita's stats as of today;
    Wins: 11,590 Losses: 994 = 92% win ratio
    Rank: 10-dan
    Title: Lighting God
    Wining Streak: 62

    Feedbak:
    Aggressive: 10
    Passive: 0
    Technician: 25
    One Pattern: 1
    Gambler: 1
    Easy: 2
    New Type: 16
    Tricky: 6
    Unmatched: 75
    Not enough practice: 4

Note -- if he had to delete & reregister his card due to a tech problem, all stats except win/loss record & rank start at 0.

he had something like 404 wins and 45 loses. he was ranked 102 if I am right. but he fought against a stormlord vannesa. and still the guy who played lion win without much problem. really his skill was far above anyone else in the arcade. with some of the guys playing there I know I have a chance if I play with joypad. hence I even defeated one stormlord playing there. but his lion was not normal. he had 1 combo that took about 50% of your life. the combo consisted of 7 moves or something but it happend so freaking fast. I was stunned. even with joypad I would not have a chance at all. he really was that good. and a lot of people where standing around him. so I am sure he was no fake at all.

doesn't sound like chibita. oh well. That combo was probably:
    [4][4][K][P]+[K][4][6][P]+[K][P][P]

GaijinPunch: thanks for the chibita stats update. What does Lightning God translate to ranking-wise in US ranking system? The names in the VF4 Ranking Guide on VFDC don't seem to have a Lightning God.

Doh! I thought that was the name of the rank in Engrish. Thunderlord would be what it is. Coincidentally, thunder & lightning are the same thing in Japanese... how weird is that?

As far as I know, that's the highest rank of any one indivual. The fact that he's got 405 wins & 45 losses I think points to some foul play. It could mean he lost his first card, and started using another, or just never played one.

Are you sure he was an Emporer?

Damn... I wrote a whole page and when I was about to post it, IE got shut down. It seems that this new version of VFDC shuts IE way too frequently. I complained to Jeff, but still seems to have problems...
Anyway, in ver B, I used to translate Ha-Ou as emperor, and I know some American people do get confused Ha-Ou with Kou-Tei since they both mean emperor. I don't think there's anyone with Kou-Tei in Japan unless they cheat. When I was in Japan, I saw people with only a few hundred winnings but they had ranks above Ha-Ou. AS GP mentioned, they probably lost their cards and started over again or they are their secondary characters. (I, myself, had a second card for my main character. It had the same rank but with much fewer winnings (onyl 100-200) with higher winning ratio.) Even in that case, I doubt it is Kou-Tei, probably just Ha-Ou, which is still good enough...
Since I mentioned about the people who cheat, let me write about what'going on there. They sell Ha-Ou cards for 50-100 bucks. For the 7 spheres, they used to sell the set for 1000 bucks!! Also, there are people who would raise your rank for 10-20 bucks per a Dan. They are like the parasites of the game... What's worse is there are people who are willing to pay money for that!!!

Any Koutei/Taitei card for sell?? /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Yeah. On Yahoo auction, they sell it. Say, Ha-ou card is for 50-100 bucks. Then, to raise one rank from there, it costs 10 bucks up to Ma-ou(subjugator) and above that, it costs 30 bucks each. To become Kou-Tei from Dragonload, it costs 60 bucks. So, the total is little less than 300 bucks. Is it worth the amount? Sure it is cheap, but...

    For some people probably yes..
It'd take much more money to get it regularly
Even Chibita still couldn't get to Koutei

IMO, to get to Fujin path is already very hard

The way to recognize the kanji in chibita's name is pretty easy: it's three characters that look sort of like the english letter S - U - K

I had no clue what Ha-Ou meant during the Ver. A/B days, so I asked my woman, who didn't know how to explain it. When I looked it up, a Ha-Ou was someone that gained power, but only through force. Not like a monarchy. Coincidentally, these Ha-Ou's were a Chinese thing, not Japanese. I don't think there's a good English equivalent.

Sphere's on Yahoo Japan are quite cheap now -- 4000 yen at most. There's still no word on data trasnfers from Ver. C to Evo, so nobody's big on buying them. I did pay a few bucks to get some 100-win items, but that's b/c they're so damn hard/impossible to get. Nobody equips the items, so stealing them is likely impossible.

I would never pay to have my dan-level raised. That's just silly. On that note, I only use one card per character. I started a 2nd Aoi card when my 7-dan one got lost. Later, it turned up, so my 3-dan card (with like 60 wins, 25 losses) is tucked away. I don't like using a 2nd card, and I hate it when I see other people do it. It's deceptive, and totally unfair to lower-dan players. I know I've had some same dan-level matches against a few of these guys with "sub cards" as they're called. I do recall winning a few of them as well, but losing a few.

One thing which I was wondering about, if nobody bothers equipping the item, then what's the point of having it?

yeeeaaahh.. I know they're hard to earn by normal methods, but you still didn't answer my question. Why bother paying for a rare item if you're not going to equip it for fear of losing it?
