nice!

please note that one of the clans (VF.net west) has moved or created a mirror site with more clips. ftp://vf.dyndns.org.
It's slow and flaky... the max upload speed is 40 kbps but you can more realistically expect 3-5 kbps. And I turn it off (or it drops dead) for long stretches.
Still, it's got more VF-related stuff to DL than anywhere else - the complete VF Archive (old VF info/clips/music/sounds etc), the VF History disc (see the making of the games)... and all the movies I've ever been able to find.

VF.Net West - FTP Server

Does anyone know a login to use on the VF.Net West FTP server?
The URL is ttp://isweb41.infoseek.co.jp/play/vfnet/ -- copy and paste it.

yeah.. place an 'h' ahead of ttp:// /versus/images/icons/wink.gif !~
there is no ftp, many of the japanese sites remove the 'h' on a URL for some reason, possibly to lower traffic.

p.s. vf.net west has updated with more movies.

the direct feed videos are of a tournament featuring chibita (who won incidentally). i think maybe the music square amusement club is an arcade like daioh as the website lists a neighborhood map and everything. unfortunately most of the videos have been removed since my first post.

tournament results:

For lion fans (hey art!) Pe-wairy.wmv is quite entertaining. It's lion vs. lion, but one of them is haou (I think) and he just reams the other guy with flashy combos and painful throws for three straight rounds. It's Chibita-like, but not Chibita.

The lion vs. lion movie is ok, but the lau vs. lau match is really great.

Amusement Club Act has updated again.

For anyone who has been keeping up with the updates, some of the latest clips feature a Lau player who has been pretty dominant. In this clip the Lau player goes against the Lion player who has been "reaming" opponents. It's a nice clip, in my opinion. I don't remember any closely fought rounds (one player dominated the other in each round), but the match showcases some basic and powerful combos from the Lau player (like u+K(MC)-> b, f+P-> D+K, K), and decent okizeme and combos from the Lion player.

I get this feeling when I play a lot...
Sometimes it's just the first player to get a knock down then heavy okizeme pressure and the opponent is almost dead. I'm not saying I feel this way every round, it's just a high enough proportion to notice it (especially vs. playing VF2) Maybe my friends and I have to learn how to counter the okizeme better.... still learning.

k-cat kakogawa has been updated with two new matches featuring a kage player (wins at 93%) with a vf.net item i've never seen before. its a helmet in the same style as his vf4 "shredder" costume only with several backwards pointing spikes on the crown. the jacky player tried some interesting things but ultimately lost 0-3. upon connecting with KPK the jacky player backwards crouchdashed with his back turned and then attempted a backwards hop, which from my thinking would likely lead to an uramawari situation that leaves jacky facing the back of his opponent -- the opposite of what was discussed earlier in the thread titled interesting jacky setup. despite the attempt the kage player avoided the uramawari and continued the jacky-trashing with a roll -> low rising kick.

p.s. it looks like the k-cat site will be updated in the near future with the other movies listed on the page, two at a time if i'm understanding the translation correctly.

there is one aoi vs akira movie available from vf unofficial hp.

On that k-cat site, only one of those is an actual link. The rest are just plain Japanese text.
All lines say the same type of thing, but only the 6th line is an actual link.

Much like the Daioh site, the K-cat files are being put out slowly. Sometimes in ones, occasionall in twos or more. Just keep checking the site every now and then. They're slowly updating though, so I sort of check the site every two days, sometimes every three. 1-6 have been posted, with 6th presently online. I'm guessing tomorrow is the most likely date 7 will be put up.
