Community needs to adopt 3 out of 5 for tournaments...

To be clear, you're asking for 3 out of 5 for every normal match, 5 out of 7 for finals?

The problem is, with 2/3... some matches are over in under 3 minutes.

 

I think 3/5 is preferable when that time is available. Even though I wish Evo top 16 had been 2/3...

Anything but single game single elim lol, for any serious tourney.

 

2 of 3 is fine, 3 of 5 is fine also.

 

I don't have problems with any tournament format, as the variance makes them all compelling. I kinda miss the crazy Quest mode fights VF4:Evo had (cancelling attacks, damage carryovers, etc). It's make for a fun tourney for the mashers out there.

The round time is something else though. 45 seconds seems to be the happy medium and is more relaxed, but putting it to 30 seconds makes for a good pressure test to ensure every hit counts.

 

I got to play DoA 3/5 and I have to say its absolutely preferable. IMHO more time to play Virtua is never bad. And seeing how fast matches fly while being at GVN Summer Jam I'd say do it up. A bunch of the matches seemed way too short. I know Soul Calibur has adopted this way too. It just might be the way of 3d fighters.

Why did SoCal adopt 3/5? I actually didn't know that.

 

I like 3/5 for finals - say top 4 but will have to assess and talk to players about throughout tournament. The fast pace is a bonus.

 

I wouldn't mind 3 out of 5 considering how fast VF is.

 

One game! ...and i'm serious.

Too many wimps out there though so best out of three will have to do.

I do actually prefer best of 3... But in FS and I say(FS).... 3/5 isn't such a bad idea.

VF matches have always been fast though... The amount of guesses you're making though is way more than other games...

 

Less games = more exciting and you can have surprise winners
more games = more propable that the best player wins

3 out of 5 games is pretty good, although I can live with 2 out of 3 also. One game is bit too random and we dont have enough players to need that yet to finish tournaments in time.
