1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

    Hi, name's Dan and I'm really enjoying playing VF5 on Live. From my understanding, when I create a match, the controls will be whatever I've set them to be, 2P included. Now I got myself a Hori stick and I've set B to G, X to P, and Y to K, like the arcade (don't know for sure, cuz I haven't seen this at any arcades). Now because I figure most people playing on Live are using the stick I've changed the 2P controls to this setup as well. Am I assuming too much? Is there a setup that is the "most" fair?

    I always wanted to get into this series but lack of friends wanting to do the same made it hard for me to commit. But now with online, it's time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif . I'm not too happy with my record (about 10 wins, 20 losses) but could be worse I guess. Tomorrow it's time to go through VF4E training. I went through it once years ago but now it'll be with a greater sense of urgency for sure. I use Jacky and my Gamertag is PhantomGray, maybe I'll see some of you online!

    You should use whatever you're most comfortable with. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    However, in Arcades the VF buttons are on a curve so if you want it to be just like in the arcade you should have your setup as follows:

    A = G
    B = P
    X = K

    While all the "official" arcade machines I've seen have Huzza's curved layout, I've recently been seeing VF4 on converted cabinets using jongoo's linear layout. I find the curve much easier to use (witness its similar use in everything from Soul Calibur to Guilty Gear to King of Fighters).

    Thanks for the info guys. I'll try out the curved layout, see if I like it. But in consideration of online opponents what do you guys think the 2P controls should be? I mean aren't they stuck with whatever I've set them as? If everyone is using the controller then I'd leave them default but I figure a good number of players are using the stick. For them I'm guessing controls like mine or Huzza's would be preferable. I'd like to be as fair as possible...ugh...maybe I'm thinking too much.

    No no no... you've completely misunderstood the controller "issue".

    If you *host* a match, you use your 1P setting as normal. But if you *join* an online match, you will be using your 2P settings. Therefore, to use a stick online you have to change both 1P and 2P.

    You will never have to use controls set by an opponent on their XBOX, and no online opponents will ever see or use controls that you set.

    There was a rumor going around right around when the game came out that claimed the opposite of what I've said, which it sounds like you heard, but it's completely untrue.

    Nice. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Even happier about online now.
