1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

im new to VF, so excuse me if im asking a dumb question. i just bought VF4 the other day and im doing pretty well in kumite mode. but im reading a lot posts that say just because u can kick the cpu's ass, that doesn't mean ur any good. can someone explain to me how human opponents play differently from the cpu and give me some pointers on how to improve without much suitable human competition?

Well, obviously, you CAN improve without human competition, but there's a wall that you reach when playing computers. The reason why everyone here agrees that it's much better to play humans that are around your skill-level compared to computers is simple; unpredictablility. IMO, AM2 did a pretty good job with the A.I. in VF4, but no game now or in the near future (or ever possibly) will ever be able to replicate the human brain. Skilled human VF players are always accustoming themselves to what is happening during a fight, something that game companies try and implement in their A.I. programming with limited success, depending on the skill of the programmer. You get better in VF when you learn to continously make the correct decision against whatever your opponent has just done. Computers can be figured out. Skilled VF players can't be figured out. Hope this helped a little.
