Does anyone know if the announcer that was in VF5 ver. B also is
    in VF5FS?

Or was Version B(C on Xbox). the only version to have an announcer?

If they did bring the announcer to VF5FS, did they improve the announcing at all, or does it still suck?

I actually prefer the announcer in VF3/VF4, maybe it's for nostalgic reasons since I used to play VF3 in the arcade as a child, and I love the heck out of VF4.

i'd agree with you i enjoyed the orginal VF4 annoncer.

now on the subject of the vf5 annoncer it's the same guy who plays jacky, now here's something awesome. i think they did improve the proformace mostly because the new sound effects when he's like "round 1" and so on and so forth. they added a filter the guys voice giving it kinda a muffled kinda effect.

I noticed there was no announcer. but then in some vids I think there is one. I have never been to Japanese arcades and I don't know how VF5FS works in the arcades. Do arcade versions have "options" where they can turn off the announcer like in the console versions? Or are options setup by each arcade operator? If there is an announcer in VF5FS is it an improvement over the console versions? [IMG]

Just to be clear, because this annoying me more than it should:

Announcer: the guy who says "Round 1, Ready, Go!", "KO", "EXCELLENT", and so on.

Commentators: the guys who provide play-by-play commentary during the course of the fight.

We all on the same page? OK, good.

In the arcades, there are no commentators. The commentary that you hear when watching various videos online are the result of the user selecting the option to include commentary in their replay video. That's why some videos have it, and others don't. Commentary, along with hit/damage, the frame data overlay, and player intro animations are all configurable options available to VF.net users when generating a replay movie of their saved match.

I believe the home versions had commentary for real time play turned on by default (why, I have no idea), which is probably why you think it's the same in the arcades.

Thanx Myke, I didn't intend to annoy anyone on this one. Yes my question was about the commentary. I don't think the distinction between "Announcer" and "Commentator" is in any of our glossary or VF wiki. I honestly thought they were the same. Thanx again, Wow that VF.net feature in the arcades sounds nice.

Tengu, R we at the point on this message board where MasterPo can't even ask a honest question? Even if you guys feel its a stupid question, its an honest one.

I know, you're probably so good, that you don't give a damn about single player VF, quest mode, or commentators, and so forth. But some of the little people (like me) do sometimes have honest questions about the game, and we look to VFDC as a good resource to get the answers, even if the question is beneath the star players or the seasoned veterans on this board.

You guys should keep in mind, that when you're doggin MasterPo, there are always anonymous potentially new members of VFDC following those threads, and you cats might be turning off new players which hurts all of us in the long run. Our player base is small enough without having to worry about how many people the VFDC bullies discourage from joining.

So what my question was beneath you, it was an honest question on my part. So why even comment if you thought it was a stupid question, why not just move on to another thread, perhaps one that is discussing frame rate advantages, or combo starters or something more on your level.

Tengu I just found this defintion:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

In this case Tengu, the proverbial troll shoe fits you. I started the the thread with an honest question, and you decided to post a response that was not only not related, but meant to disrupt the topic discussion.

So if the moderators need to block someone, maybe its the trolls (like yourself). If you've paid attention I try to add something useful to threads that I did not create, but post in.

Have I ever trolled some thread you created, with the malicious attempt to disrupt it? Answer: No. My contributions may be controversial but they're never meant to show disrespect to any of the members, especially the creator of the thread. But for some reason you and a few others find the need to troll threads that I create to just ride my nuts.

Maybe you don't care that you could be turning off potential new members.

On the other hand, if you just can't help it, if you're a troll, and you come from a family of trolls, then you have my sympathies, and I will try to tolerate your trolling as best I can.

BTW Tengu, what do you think of the commentators in VF5? are they useful? Do they add to the VF5 experience? Do you have them turned off when you play VS mode. Do you think they should let console users pick between English and Japanese for the language that the commentators use. What about the bug with the commentators that sometimes telegraph a move to your opponent by stating a move that you've buffered and the opponent has not been hit by it yet?

Do you have any thoughts on the Commentators in VF5 [IMG]

Yea, Tengu I got a little offended. Because I posted an honest question (maybe stupid to some) and you respond with even when PO loses he wins (which is admit it, off topic or at minimum a veiled attempt at thread disruption.

    Colorful_Tengu says:

Each and every post/thread you've ever made is troll post/troll bait..
    [/size]

C'mon man... again, a controversial response, or a uninformed response, or a stupid response, is not the same thing as trolling. It has never ever been my intent to disrupt anyone's thread. I may have done so unintentionally, but it was never premeditated. Sure I may have a different perspective than many people on VFDC, but dude we should really welcome differences because they add flavor. I don't make troll posts,
and any post can be troll bait. MY responses may be controversial, they may be stupid, they may be uninformed, they may be responses that you would not have given, but I never attack someone who didn't attack me first. I never set out to disrupt someone's thread, I'm not into disrespecting the opinons of others.

Tengu there are lots of names you can call me that would fit, Troll is not one of them. The link that you just gave as an example of trolling shows no such thing. It shows a different vantage point and attempt to positively contribute to the thread.

Lets say my C++ comment was controversial, uninformed, or even stupid for that matter, that doesn't make it trolling my friend.

Listen, you're right, the statement about coming from a family of trolls, was inappropriate, out of place, and I apologize dude.

But in all honesty, my question about the announcer/commentator
was just that a question, a honest question (maybe stupid) but honest. And when it gets to a point where a member can't ask a
honest question then it seems to me we've gone to far.

Again, I apologize for calling you and your family trolls, I was posting out of weakened state.

Are y'all going nuts because Sega waits for an enlightment or whatever to give us an update on VF5 (I prefer R, rather than FS)?
Give masterpo a break, he is one of the few members here who don't try too hard to be funny. This community gets more and more infantile.

P.S.: I am going nuts, I started playing Tekken! epic fail

I agree 100%. Most of the people on this site try to hard to be smartasses and to many of you love to gang up on people. This is the best site to learn more about VF but to bad its the worst when it comes to making new members feel welcomed which is why i hardly ever post.

More elitist attitude going on here than any other fighting game forum ive ever been too. When people want to learn more about VF this is the site almost everyone is directed too but im also sure its also the reason why some people stop playing the game.

Hardly ever (if ever) has there been an argument on here without old time cyber friends jumping. Cut some people some slack its the only way the community is going to feel comfortable and thrive.

I remember i made a topic warning new 360 owners that 360's were breaking down at a alarming rate and all id got was shit for it. No one believed me until lots of first time 360 users started to find out there consoles were dying. All i was stating was you should get a warranty.

Thats what you get for trying to be helpful on VF.com but the funny part is a topic was created addressing the problem anyway. This site needs a change in attitude and some of you old schoolers need to get off your high horse.

All I see is you attempting to turn a discussion about VF5's price into a thread about Xbox 360's reliability and faring pretty badly in the process. We're on the internet, not everyone is going to agree with each other deal with it.

You joined two years after the 360 was released, pretty sure the vast majority of people would have been aware of the consoles issues. Nevermind that these issues had nothing to do with the price of VF5.
