At the press conference where AM2 announced PS2 Evo, they showed an interesting trailer detailing several features of the home version. This trailer is now available as a direct feed:

Looks pretty good. Thanks for the link!
I noticed that Akira's face still has some imperfection much like the PS2 VF4.The port looks pretty close to the arcade one though.
    I can't wait for this game. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If I wasn't already excited to get this game to play, this video has got me close to anticipation overload. I know some of the lucky ones who actually played EVO will be detractors, but personally, I don't give a damn about little graphical nitpicks. Time can't go by fast enough for release day.

If it's one thing AM2 worked on, it's the graphical interface. This is where AM2 has changed alot IMO. Also, they seem to be adding tons of extras that were lacking in past console ports. As long as they get the gameplay and timing right, these extras are just icing on the cake.

One more thing- I'm really amazed at what AM2 has done with this game, looking at it from a "PS2" perspective. Ken Katuragi is so full of it. I remember the first announcements of the PS2 and the performance claims. At the time, I thought it was laughable. Anyone think VF4 coulda been done on DC; just as good, or better than the PS2 port? In hindsight, it's intriguing to wonder what AM2 could have come up on DC. Better or worse, only god knows.

Hmm, it would be hard to say. The Dreamcast is still better than the PS2 in the texture department, but compared to the N@OMI 2, it get's its butt handed. PS2 better at handling lightsources than the DC. Not as good as the N@OMI2, but N2 is propably the best hardware available for games when it comes to light. (Just see Jacky's rooftop stage using a total of 8 lightsources).
Polygon models might also be reduced a lot to work on DC.
So a DC version would propably have the following differences compared to PS2:
Lower polygon models, worse lighting and special effects, better textures (higher resolution and better colors), less flicker, no A.I. system (not enough room on memory card), possibly an internet page for posting replays (like SF3-3rd Strike), either officially or fancreated (would be quite a bonus).

Yes, ON PAPER, the PS2 has technical advantages. The DC is the predecessor to the Naomi 2, so IT HAS TO BE BETTER, WAY BETTER THAN DC.

With the development time on Shenmue, I just wonder if their R&D was to the point that a game they would have made, if they put in the effort, would have exceeded the high point in graphics- which I see as Soul Calibur. Mind you, Soul Calibur was running in high-res also. SC still stands up well against VF4 PS2. This said, SIMPLY, I have confidence that AM2's talents could have come up with something way better than Namco. Again, they had more R&D with Shenmue. Maybe the logic of thinking "something better than SC on DC" would be close or even exceed the PS2 port of VF4, is wrong. Ever since VF2 on saturn, I'm always amazed at how superior the graphics are compared to the rest- even if they did use hardware tricks. I just wonder how good a DC version would have looked side by side with the PS2 version, even with lower polys (some of the 3D bgs FAR off into the distance could be sacrificed), sacrifice the real-time lighting and fake it, but again, yes, it would have had better textures.) Again, it intrigues me how a DC port would have stacked up to the PS2 version. Would "something better than SC on DC" would be close or even exceed the PS2 port of VF4? Again, god only knows how much better AM2's VF4 would have done over Namco's SC on DC. I'm overanalyzing again... I'm stopping right here, I hear the technical buzzards hovering.

Naomi 2 proved to be a monster when it comes to lighting effects.I like Lei fei's stage especially the tiles. They stand out.The tiles reflect the sunlight pretty well.I hope the AM2 team does a good port for the PS2 even though i know it might not be 100% identical.I hope the BGs retain the details of the arcade version unlike the original VF4 on the PS2.
Judging from that trailer, i saw that vanessa's stage is pretty faithful to the arcade version.

It has not been stated if you can or can't, but safe money says you will have to start a new save.
