1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. my xbox 360 scratched my vf5 disc. Fantastic. It gave read error when i went to the dojo, and said clean disc. OK, WTF where did this big scratch come from. SO cleaned it and now it reads and plays fine except...there is no background music during fights. Just u, me, and our characters grunting. It's like womens tennis. Are there any "fixes/remedies" to maybe fix this? I'm open to suggestions. If not i guess i'll be rebuying this game this weekend. Would u guys shell out for a new copy or just play with no sound? Thanks

I actually like to here my VF music. Not that its great, but it still gets me into the action. I'd say go get a GameDR, but it would probably cost more than a used copy of VF5. Just go get another one.

VF5 is pretty cheap to pick up brand new, just buy another one.

Incidentally, having the 360 vertically can possibly cause discs to become scratched more so than if it was sitting horizontally.

If this were to happen to me it'd be hilarious. I never play with the in-game music, I just put on a cd. I always get people telling me to turn the music on in the game.

    "Sorry, can't, music is busted."

Heck, I wouldn't have even noticed and thought I'd got away lucky.

You should check if your 360 has scratched your other discs too, cause in that case getting a new VF5 disc will not solve you problem...I hope this is not the issue.
And like the guys said, you should always lay the 360 flat.

BTW, you can try this bizarre sounding method for getting rid of some scratches:
    1. Mix toothpaste with a bit of aftershave, rub the mixture on the scratched disc for a while and leave a film of the mixture over the disc.
    2. Then place the disc in the freezer for about 45 minutes (or until it freezes).
    3. Finally rinse the film off the disc and dry with a cloth.

It might sound funny, but the first time my VF5 disc got scratched this fixed it. Unfortunately my xbox ended up scarring the disc beyond toothpaste fixes /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Always position your Xbox 360 horizontally on a firm ground. I'd call the Microsoft Customer support and inform them about the problem that you have, if you see it happening again.

Your Xbox 360 will then be replaced within two weeks. (Tell them you had the Xbox 360 lying flat on the ground though).

The Xbox sucks, which is why everyone assumes it caused the scratch. However, unless the scratch is a perfect arc or circle, it may not have been the Xbox that scratched it. The scratches happen when the disc is spinning, so it would make a ring around the disc, or partial ring. (trust me, I know how they look from experience) If you're out of warranty or they give you a hard time about this for any reason, check out this link for a seemingly simple solution:

BTW that women's tennis crack was hilarious!

Sorry bro, i don't have any suggestions aside from above stated recommendations. Just here for shout outs.

The women's tennis joke WAS hilarious. I also go a kick out of this "my console likes the taste of em nom nom nom... "

This happened to me a while back (deep circular scratch). I found a site that repairs scratched discs (UK), it cost me £1.50 for the repair and another £1.50 for postage (which works out to about $5 i think). They said they get a lot of xbox discs with the same type of scratch. If you can find someone near you who repairs damaged discs it should work out cheaper than buying a new copy, even with postage costs. I've seen some people advertising this service through ebay, might be worth a look.

Hey peeps great news. I don't necessarily like to listen to the sound either. Also i don't like fighting Brad, which is conveniant because my game won't load him at all. Disc read error and reset. Lol. I have to replace it. BTW it is a perfect quarter circle arc scratch, that was my first clue it was my xbox (which always, and still, sits horizontally). Fuck it. I just got my new controller true. This is brutal. lol. I've only been playing for a few days since this happened so i don't know if there are other characters i can't play yet : )

The disk-scratching as described by you (perfect arc) is caused by first generation Xbox drives which don't have rubber pads to stop the disk spin properly. Microsoft won't hesitate to get your Xbox 360 replaced, just call them.

Not quite true Leotard! When my 350 elite got RROD, they replaced the motherboard and sent it back but... it's ended up with this disc scratching problem, so it's not just the first lot of xbox drives that do this.

Well, when you're 360 got RROD they just sent you back a refurbished 360. That doesn't mean that this one has a newer drive in it (with the rubber pads).

No it's not a refurbished one. It's the same case they just replaced the entire mother board, disc drive and everything. So it should have the newer drive, fudge knows.

Yeah but MS probably replaced the motherboard and disc drive with OLD parts from a refurbished generation one model.

The quality control on the 360 is truly atrocious. I've had two systems die to the red ring of death and a disc scratching problem on a console I had to return. But my PS3 version of VF is an old offline version so 360 it is.

You got a 360 back with the same serial number than the one that you sent in?
